Dunlop Rover H/T Tire Review & Rating

With year round all-season traction, a comfortable ride and an attractive tread design, the Rover H/T from Dunlop has a lot going for it. Available in a wide range of sizes to fit all types of pickups, SUV’s and crossovers, the Rover H/T is engineered for those who need a tire mainly for highway use.

The all-season tread compound features Dunlop’s Versa Load Technology that maximizes the tire’s footprint, while also providing stiffness for added cornering power and better overall stability at higher speeds.

Unique V-Lock grooves and zig-zag sipes enhance grip and traction when driving through snow and ice. On rain soaked roads the high density sipes and intermediate tread blocks quickly evacuate water from under the tread and reduce the risk of hydroplaning.

Dunlop has built this tire to be more quiet than you may expect when you first drive on it. Through computer optimized multi-pitch technology, road noise is virtually eliminated, making it a more pleasant driving experience, something frequently mentioned in driver reviews.

Inside the tire you will find two steel belts and JointLess Band Technology that creates a more rounded tire and a smoother overall ride quality. A 60,000 mile tread guarantee is included on P-metric models, while a 45,000 mile guarantee is on all LT sizes.

Pros

  • Excellent traction on dry, wet or snow covered road surfaces
  • Above average steering response
  • Delivers a smooth and very quiet ride
  • 60,000 mile tread warranty

Cons

  • May not be the best for loose dirt and mud

Overall Thoughts

If you drive your SUV or pickup on the road the majority of the time, then this Dunlop model is one good option to consider. It provides excellent handling and traction in all types of road and weather conditions. Driving in lighter amounts of snow is an area this tire does ok in, but when you get hefty amounts of the white stuff, or quite a bit of ice, you may experience some traction issues.

Beyond that, the ride is very comfortable and doesn’t have all the outside road noise to contend with. In fact, we hear a lot of drivers speak highly of how quiet the ride is on this tire.

You can still take this tire off-road, but driving in deep loose dirt and gravel, as well as mud, is not something this tire is built for. Overall, a very good highway tire that comes in at a good value.
