Designed to deliver superior traction on ice and snow, the Dunlop Grandtrek SJ6 winter tire is built specifically for drivers of all types of pickups, SUV’s, commercial vans and other 4×4 vehicles. This studless ice and snow tire sports the mountain snowflake emblem for severe snow service and is considered to be one of Dunlop’s top rated winter tires.
Dunlop utilizes a unique silica-plus and glass fiber-reinforced tread compound with microscopic studs on the SJ6 that increases grip in all kinds of rough winter weather conditions. The directional tread pattern enhances handling and stability on snow, hard-pack and ice.
Added zig-zag grooves aid in reducing braking distances while also improving acceleration, an area this tire does quite well. It performs very well on icy road surfaces due in part to the microscopic studs around the tread.
An optimized tread design and mold shape increases treadlife, which is another area often mentioned in other driver reviews of this model. We’ve heard more than a few drivers speak of getting 3-5 winter seasons worth of wear out of this tire.
The Dunlop SJ6 is available in a number of 15-19 inch sizes that will fit most any vehicle. A limited tread warranty is included as well.

Overall Thoughts
For pickup and SUV owners, the Dunlop SJ6 is one of the better winter tires available today. It offers comparable performance as you’ll find on tires like the Michelin Latitude X-Ice or Bridgestone DM-V2 among others.
Traction in deep snow and ice is very good and among the better tires in this class. Tire slip is minimal on wet pavement and handling stability is what you want from a tire like this. Naturally, as is the case with most all winter tires, road noise can be heard at highway speeds as the tire starts wearing down.
Overall, if you’re looking for a solid performing winter tire for your truck, van or SUV, the Dunlop SJ6 is a good option.

Warranty
Dunlop provides a limited tread warranty on the Grandtrek SJ6. Tire uniformity is guaranteed for the first year or first 2/32 inch of wear. Materials and workmanship are warranted for 6-years and include free replacement during the first year or first 2/32 inch of wear. A prorated amount is given for the remaining time period or down to the final 2/32 inch of tread depth.
