As a maximum high-performance summer tire, the Continental ContiSportContact 5 has been engineered with high performance tire technology to go along with a reasonable price. Created for drivers of higher performing coupes and sedans, this model utilizes cutting edge technology for consistent traction and handling, as well as a smooth ride.
Continental’s unique Black Chilli compound has been molded into an asymmetrical design with a macro-block outboard shoulder to allow the tire to adapt and react to each individual road surface. This provides superior traction that responds differently depending on the conditions and also contributes to enhanced cornering and overall consistency.
The four circumferential grooves help to expel water away from the tires and increase wet traction, while Continental’s continuous center rib and notched intermediate rib technology provides responsive, reliable and high quality steering and ride comfort, which is a plus for this tire.
Handling is further enhanced by twin steel belts that are reinforced with spirally wrapped polyamide and short-chain polymers, which also reduce braking distance by reducing the heat build up in the tire.
The ContiSportContact 5 comes in 18-22 inch sizes, and speed ratings of V, W and Y are also available.

Overall Thoughts
The Continental ContiSportContact 5 is a model that we rank in the middle of this category. On dry conditions the tires handle confidently while also delivering a comfortable ride without a lot of excessive road noise. Short braking times and overall stability is provided by the range of technology that is on-board with this tire.
Where this tire falls short is going to be with its poor treadlife. We’ve heard quite a few driver reviews mentioning this as well, despite regularly rotating the tires and not driving on them like they stole them.
Overall, while we do like this tire for the performance it delivers, we would suggest going with the Continental ExtremeContact DW or Michelin Pilot Super Sport as better alternatives.

Warranty
Continental provides a limited tread warranty on the ContiSportContact 5. Tire uniformity is guaranteed for one-year or the first 2/32 inch of wear. Materials and workmanship are warranted for 6-years and include free replacement during the first year or first 2/32 inch of wear. A prorated amount is given for the remaining time or down to the final 2/32 inch of tread depth.
Also included is a one-year or first 2/32 inch road hazard warranty, as well as Continental’s 30-day customer satisfaction trial that allows you to exchange the tire if you are not completely satisfied.
