A unique winter tread compound combines with a directional tread pattern that features a honeycomb-like design. The honeycomb elements increase tread stiffness and enhance cornering stability, which is very effective on this model.

The V-shape design of the tread pattern helps in evacuating water and slush from under the tread, which results in reducing the risk of hydroplaning and improves wet grip. Continental has compacted the tread blocks to create added traction on snow covered road surfaces and braking on ice.

Naturally, the TS800 sports the mountain/snowflake emblem meaning it meets the tire industry severe snow service standards. Continental has 15 inch sizes available and includes a limited tread warranty.

Overall Thoughts

We have mixed thoughts on the Continental TS800 overall. While it delivers excellent dry traction and handling, as well as good performance on snow and rain soaked roads, it also has its faults.

We’ve heard many drivers speak to poor braking and acceleration on ice and hard-packed snow. You might expect better grip with the honeycomb tread design, but several drivers have spoken of lack of traction issues.

Overall the TS800 is an average winter tire that ranks in the middle to lower half of its class.

Continental provides a limited tread warranty on the ContiWinterContact TS800. Tire uniformity is guaranteed for one-year or the first 2/32 inch of wear.

Materials and workmanship are warranted for 6-years and include free replacement during the first year or first 2/32 inch of wear. A prorated amount is given for the remaining time or down to the final 2/32 inch of tread depth.
