Bridgestone Blizzak WS60 Tire Review & Rating

Made with exclusive Bridgestone technology, the Blizzak WS60 is built to deliver amazing traction on snow, ice and all other winter weather conditions that are thrown your way. Designed for drivers of coupes, sedans, crossovers and minivans, the WS60 is Bridgestone’s most popular winter tire.

A nano-tech dual rubber compound features exclusive Tube Multicells, which increase grip by eliminating the thin layer of water between the tread and snow or ice packed roads. This unique tread compound also includes special RC polymers that provide flexibility in very cold temperatures, resulting in better handling and overall performance.

The tire’s directional tread design, along with 3-D zig-zag sipes that are built into the independent tread blocks, increase grip on wet road surfaces, while also providing greater braking power. The result is the reduced risk of hydroplaning and more confidence in driving in rough winter conditions.

Inside the tire you will find two steel belts and Bridgestone’s UNI-T tiretechnology which reinforces the belts with spirally wrapped nylon for added strength and durability at higher speeds on the highway. It also adds more riding comfort and a longer treadlife. Bridgestone recommends installing the WS60 in sets of four only in order to maintain maximum winter performance.

Pros

  • Best in class snow, ice and wet traction
  • Responsive steering and good cornering performance
  • Comfortable ride
  • Long treadlife

Cons

  • Would like to see the addition of more sizes

Overall Thoughts

As the older companion to the WS70, the Blizzak WS60 leads the way in winter traction in light snow, deep snow, ice, slush, freezing rain and rain performance. It simply gets you through any kind of winter weather conditions. (When it comes to the WS60 vs WS70, the only big difference is in the sizes available. Performance wise, they are the same.)

The tire continues to provide a comfortable ride, and the treadlife is long lasting for a winter tire. About the only thing we would like to see with this Bridgestone model is the addition of more available sizes. Overall, if you are looking for a tire that will take you through anything that winter throws your way, this is the tire you want.
