Bridgestone Potenza G019 Grid Tire Review & Rating

The Potenza G019 Grid from Bridgestone sports an attractive and aggressive tread pattern that is designed to provide year round all-season traction and handling. Developed for drivers of sport coupes and sedans, the G019 Grid includes some of Bridgestone’s high performance racing technology in the tread.

The all-season silica enhanced tread compound features L.L. Carbon Black and a directional tread pattern for increased handling performance and added grip on both dry and wet road surfaces. A wider footprint and stable tread blocks provide quicker steering response and more grip in the corners for those who enjoy more spirited driving.

Deeper circumferential grooves and the tires directional pattern give this tire added traction when the roads are wet or snow covered. It also increases hydroplane resistance and makes for a safer driving experience. The very-pitch tread design reduces outside road noise.

Inside the tire you’ll find two high-tensile steel belts that combine with UNI-T Technology and Bridgestone’s Computer Optimized Component System to give the tire added strength and durability at higher road speeds, as well as a more comfortable ride and better overall handling. You will find a 50,000 mile tread guarantee on this tire, as well as an H or V-speed rating.

  • Dry, wet and winter traction is above average
  • Cornering grip and steering response are very good
  • Tire rides comfortably
  • Excellent tread life

  • Some drivers have mentioned tires can get noisy

Overall Thoughts

The G019 Grid performs quite well on dry road surfaces. Steering response is very good and the tire handles the corners better than many leading competitors in this class. The tread design is aggressive and very attractive.

You’ll find this model to not only perform well, but also ride comfortably around town or down the interstate. Road noise has been an issue for some drivers, but we haven’t found it to be a problem. Treadlife is excellent for a high performance all-season tread design.

Overall, while there are many other better performing models available, this is a good option for those seeking performance and dependability.

  1. These are the worst tires I have ever had, on any car I’ve owned, and I’ve owned many. I got them at Firestone, and Firestone typically has little in stock that’s affordable, except the Bridgestone garbage that they sell. After they were first installed, they were great. But after one rotation, I noticed a loud noise coming from the right front tire. It was so loud, I thought my bearings were going out, or some other catastrophic failure that would cost more money to repair. It was just one tire that had been on the rear, and had worn unevenly. All showed signs of cupping after less than 7k. They offered to switch two tires to put the noisy one back on the rear, but I said no. I listened to that god-awful noise until it was time to rotate again, thinking that after that, I’d get a quiet ride. NOPE! It was just as noisy as the last time. The major chain garage I take it to (NOT Firestone) said the only thing to do would be to replace the single tire, if I thought it was that annoying (they assured me the tire was still safe to use), or wait to replace them all. I waited, and the mechanic told me that the cord was showing on the inside of the two fronts. These tires didn’t even have 40k on them yet.
