An all-terrain tire that has been used extensively as original equipment on a variety of light trucks and SUV’s, the Bridgestone Dueler A/T RH-S comes with a variety of on-board technology that is designed to enhance grip and traction both on and off-road.

Aggressive off-shoulder tread blocks allow the tires to grip in light mud, snow and gravel while still retaining performance and this is enhanced via an all-season tread design that also has open slotted shoulders. The tread design and make up also provides wet driving enhancement by getting rid of water quickly.

Bridgestone utilizes what they call CO-CS (Computer Optimized Component System) to combine materials, design and construction to ensure that the tires offer the highest level of performance throughout their lifetime.

Durability comes with a L.L. (Long Link) Carbon that improves the overall tread, provides resistance to cracking and increases protection on less than favorable surfaces.

Finally the tires were created with a single and continuous cable in the bead construction to improve comfort. The A/T RH-S is available in 17 to 22 inch sizes and comes with a limited tread warranty.

Overall Thoughts

While not a true off-road tire in the purest sense, the Bridgestone Dueler A/T RH-S can handle a variety of terrains adequately for light duty use while also delivering good performance on the highway.

Unlike many all-terrain tires, this model is comfortable to drive on and absorb shocks and vibrations better than expected. Road noise is not as pronounced as you find on similar tires as well. Beyond that, the tread wears great. We’ve heard of many drivers getting upwards of 100K miles from these tires.

The biggest issues we have with this model is its lighter load carrying capacity. We would like to see it beefed up in order to haul heavier loads. The other area that may affect some drivers is in its handling of rougher all-terrain conditions. This is simply not what the tire was designed for. That said, it holds its own very well in lighter terrain.

Overall, this is a solid middle of the pack performing AT tire. The price is fair for the performance it delivers, and the longer treadlife creates good value.

  1. I bought my new gmc denali with these tires a year ago. My twp front tires need to be replaced already due to inside tire wear. Dealership says nothing is wrong with the truck and the alignment is good. I only have 25,000 miles and have to replace them. I do light towing and mainly drive gighway milea. Not happy at all with these tires and the expense of replacing them.

  2. I tow a 26 foot rev trailer. With a 2012 Silverado 1500 4×4 ext cab. Z71 suspension. The tires are great. Except when I am. towing. They don’t do well with weight and hard to handle when windy

  3. When I bought my GMC Sierra 1500 these tires were stock tires, so far I have 80,000 km on them. Most of my driving is 90% highway and 10% off road, I’ve been through a lot of heavy and light snow and rain. Driving in Newfoundland Canada I had no problems with this tire, I have driven 6 times across Canada, from Newfoundland to Alberta.
    I probably could get another 20,000 km more on these tires but to be on the safe side I’m going to replace them with the same tire for the wet slush traction.
    I have to rate this tire 4.5 out of 5.
    I’ve been happy with this tire so why should I change to another brand.
    I’ve been wearing the same brand of sneakers on my feet for 10 years so I don’t like to change anything that is working for me.

  4. You missed another Con. – Some of the cross sips are not full tread depth this leads to very poor traction on wet conditions. If you live in the north west (Seattle / Vancouver) area where rain is a fact of life don not expect these to last much ore to 50,000 miles. This would probably not be a problem in California or other dryer areas and this may also be the reason some people get longer life than others.
