Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric SUV-4×4 Tire Review & Rating

Goodyear has designed the new Eagle F1 Asymmetric SUV-4×4 as a high performance summer tire for street use in high-end SUV’s and crossovers. Built to provide not only exceptional handling but ride comfort as well, the Asymmetric SUV 4×4 is made for serious driving enthusiasts who want uncompromising performance from their tires.

A high-performance tread compound features carbon black and silica to go with Goodyear’s Racing Compound Technology. What that means for you is that the tread compound is built to provide increased levels of dry and wet traction and handling.

Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric SUV-4x4 Tire Review

The tire’s outer shoulders are wider, and with the added tread stiffness, provide enhanced cornering grip on dry pavement. We’ve heard from many drivers mentioning that Goodyear has done an excellent job in this area. A continuous center rib increases steering response and stability throughout the speed range.

Wider circumferential grooves and a more open inside tread design give this tire added wet traction and grip. It channels away the water and reduces hydroplane risk, while giving you more confidence behind the wheel.

Inside the tire you will find two steel belts with 3-layers of polyamide cord wrapping for higher speed strength and stability. Goodyear has taken things a step further with Active Corner Grip Technology that adds aramid reinforcement to the inner sidewalls for increased cornering performance and better overall contact with the road surface.

Pros

  • Excellent dry and wet traction
  • Cornering grip is among best in this class
  • Comfortable riding tire
  • Low road noise

Cons

  • Tread life
  • Not for winter use

Overall Thoughts

We like what Goodyear has done with this model. The F1 series has always been good for traction and cornering, and this SUV 4×4 version does not disappoint. The grip in the corners is very good for an SUV/crossover street tire.

Ride comfort is not neglected on this model as it rides very comfortably for such a sporty tire. Road noise is low and tread life is decent, but certainly not great, considering the 240 UTQG rating. Naturally, we would like to see it a bit higher. Of course, this is not a tire designed to be driven on snow or ice, so be careful if you are trying to push the limits.

Overall, a nice option for those looking to get a higher level of performance from their vehicle.
