Goodyear Assurance CS Fuel Max Tire Review & Rating

A special all-season tread compound contains unique fuel-saving ingredients that are created to reduce rolling resistance, which provides better overall fuel economy and saves you money as time goes by. This tire features two unique tread zones. The Dry Tread Zone sports stronger shoulder blocks and a continuous center rib for increased stability and steering response throughout the vehicle’s speed range. The shoulder blocks also add to better cornering performance on dry or wet pavement.

The Wet Tread Zone includes Goodyear’s Dual Aqua Channel grooves around the tread. These grooves propel water away from the tire to enhance traction on wet roads and reduce the risk of hydroplaning. Multiple sipes around the tire add biting edges for improved snow traction and grip in winter weather conditions.

Inside the tire you will find two steel belts with nylon reinforcement and a polyester body. Together they add more strength and durability to the tread, which Goodyear stands behind with a 65,000 mile tread guarantee. You’ll find the Assurance CS Fuel Max available in a wide range of 16-19 inch sizes.

Pros

  • Excellent dry and wet traction
  • Very smooth and comfortable ride
  • Lower rolling resistance and better fuel efficiency
  • Tread life is among best in class

Cons

  • Winter traction could be just a little better

Overall Thoughts

Goodyear has created a winner with this Assurance CS Fuel Max. The traction and grip on dry or wet pavement is very good, and the steering response leaves you feeling in complete control. The efforts that Goodyear has put into lowering the rolling resistance on this tire have paid off. You can expect to see better fuel efficiency on this model, which is an area that is often mentioned in other driver reviews.

Ride comfort is very good, and the tread life is exceptional. We’ve heard many drivers comment on how long lasting the treadlife is. The only area we can find issues with would be traction in extreme winter weather conditions, especially in the areas of braking/acceleration on hard-packed snow or ice.

Overall, Goodyear has put together a very good touring all-season tire. We rank it in the upper half of this category.
