Michelin LTX M/S Tire Review & Rating
The LTX M/S from Michelin is built to provide all-season traction and handling for drivers of pickups, vans, SUV’s and commercial light trucks. In addition to providing excellent year round highway manners, the M/S sports the ruggedness of a light truck tire to deliver exceptional traction on wet and snow covered roads, to go with a longer lasting treadlife.
An all-season tread compound combines with a symmetric tread pattern and Michelin’s MaxTouch Construction to give this tire a larger and more stable contact patch. This results in a longer treadlife due to the way the tire distributes cornering, braking and acceleration forces.
The tire’s deeper offset circumferential grooves help channel away water from under the tire and reduce the risk of hydroplaning. Interlocking high-density sipes and a special rubber compound enhance grip on wet, snow or ice covered roads, which is an area that this tire excels in. In addition, the tire’s unique tread design is engineered to provide a more quiet ride on all types of road surfaces.
Inside the tire you will find two steel belts (3 steel belts on D and E load ranges) that are nylon reinforced for added strength and durability at higher speeds. A polyester cord body further increases ride comfort and more even treadwear. The tire is available with raised white lettering on certain sizes.

Overall Thoughts
It’s hard to find fault with this original Michelin LTX MS. It provides some of the best dry, wet and snow traction in this class. The tire simply grips the road through all types of road and weather conditions. About the only negative worth mentioning is braking on ice. It’s a little longer than we would like, but even then it’s still very good.
The ride on this tire is outstanding. It’s comfortable and there is little to no road noise. This is another area that many drivers have commented on as well. You can expect a long lasting treadlife, which we have heard some drivers getting upwards of 100K miles out of their tires.
Overall, while we like the newer M/S2, which is going to be the eventual replacement to this model, we rank this tire right up there with the likes of the Yokohama H/T-S G051, Goodyear Fortera TripleTred and other top models. It makes for an excellent choice in all-season highway tires.

Warranty
Michelin provides a 6-year or 60,000 mile tread warranty on all S and T-speed rated tires. The mileage is reduced by half for the rear tires if different sizes are used in front. Tire uniformity is guaranteed for one-year or the first 2/32 inch of wear.
Materials and workmanship are warranted for 6-years and include free replacement during the first year or first 2/32 inch of wear. A prorated amount is given for the remaining time period or down to the final 2/32 inch of tread depth.
Michelin also includes a 3-year flat tire changing service and their exclusive 30-day customer satisfaction guarantee.

Have Premier LTX M&S on 2013 Lincoln MKX. Alignment monitored, religiously rotated and correct pressure maintained, at 38,000 these tires are worn out. Very disappointing.

Damm Stinking Lincoln….lol, those cars eat everything up!! My fave was the 1991 Black on black Lincoln Mark viii, (had a vii too) great cars they were. My first a 1966 Lincoln continental, for $300, got it running in a snap…cruiser body……anyhow back to the tires. What a shame you didn’t enjoy them….I have pics somewhere, verifiable, I rotated at americas tire & were measured & documented. When I sold that 1991 Toyota, those tires were on the truck 72+ K miles, & were still legal. All of them burned down in the same way. Remarkably even all around. I ran 40 lbs cold, I like them there. Saved my ass in the rain……….let’s say Close call, to the reaper. Handled great hot cold wet dry & HOT… desert here. Those were the best tires I have ever rode…….bar none…..These folks know what there doing. Besides you can get a set of wranglers next time….lol, best regards
I have a ram 2500 diesel, tow a small camper, less than 10k lbs and can tell you that these Michelin last barely 35k miles. I have maintained balance and rotation and after 30k the first set were at 4/32. The next set they prorated and I received them for half price, they were supposedly improved, they lasted 35k. For the price paid, $1300, I will never buy Michelin again.
I only got 25000 out of the Firestone tires so I am thinking our 2018 rams are hard on tires
Does the Defender LTX M/S have the snowflake rating?
No, it does not. That said, traction in snow is very good.
