Falken Pro G4 A/S Tire Review & Rating

The Falken Pro G4 A/S is the latest addition to their high performance all-season tire lineup. It has been designed to provide drivers of coupes and sedans increased traction and handling, as well as better treadwear.

Falken uses their exclusive Dynamic Range Technology in the tread makeup of the G4 AS that adds a high-silica content tread compound along with an asymmetric tread pattern for added traction on dry and wet road surfaces, which is a plus for this tire.

Falken Pro G4 A/S Tire Review

The compound is designed to stay pliable in colder conditions for better handling on snow and ice, yet remain strong when road surface temperatures heat up for enhanced dry handling and improved treadwear.

3-D siping around the shoulders helps create more biting edges for traction on snow and ice, while making the tire more responsive and stable in dry conditions. That said, this is by no means a snow tire.

Road noise is reduced due in part to the variable tread depth design that varies the size and placement of the tread blocks for a quieter ride comfort. For the most part it works well on this tire. It’s only on the roughest surfaces that you really notice any noise.

Falken has a range of 15-18 inch sizes available in H, V and W-speed ratings in the Pro G4 A/S, and they come with either a 45K or 65K mile warranty depending on the speed rating of the tire.

Pros

  • Dependable all-season traction
  • Nimble handling and cornering stability
  • Ride quality
  • Treadlife

Cons

  • Winter traction
  • Lower the road noise a bit

Overall Thoughts

This new Falken G4 A/S performs surprisingly well for a relative unknown tire. It delivers very good dry and wet traction. Winter traction is really about what we expected. It goes through light snow without a lot of issues, but deeper amounts of snow and ice is a different story.

Handling and cornering grip is going to satisfy the needs of most drivers and is very responsive, which is an area that has received a lot of positive reviews from other drivers. If you’re looking for much more spirited performance, you may want to move up to a tire like the BFGoodrich Comp-2 A/S or the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric All-Season, although you’ll pay much more for it.

Ride comfort is very good overall, but there is just a bit more road noise on this tire than you’ll find on some of the other best in class models. That leads us to the value you find for the money here, which is very good based on the performance. We’ve reviewed some Falken tires that haven’t performed up to expectations, but Falken had done a very good job with their new G4 A/S.

Overall, we have no hesitation in recommending this tire for drivers looking for added performance in their daily commuting needs while also saving a good deal of money in the process.

  1. The Falken G4 A/S has a 65,000 mile warranty. I bought 4 of these tires from Discount Tire in Dec. 2018 and in July 2021 replaced the back 2 and rotated the existing back to the front.
Now a year later I am replacing the 2 front, and they only have 29,613 miles on them. However, Discount Tire just told me that Falken won’t honor the warranty “because they are not wearing evenly side-to-side.” Rip-off! This was my 2nd set of Falken G4s, but I’ll never buy Falken tires again, because the tires are crap and they don’t honor the warranty.

  2. Oh glad to read here. My tires(for 13 siemna) are 6 years old 32k miles and the wears are 2~4mm on one set and 3~4mm on the other. Im guessing alignment is behind the uneven wear but i was surprised to find out these tires are rated at 45k or 60k. But then i see now they aRe on the cheap side and fixing the alignment not sooner wouldnt do any good so works out. I guess the prices are good way to tell the actual mileage?

  3. West tire I have ever driven on for wet traction. So bad I am replacing these with plenty of tread left because they are dangerous when wet.

  4. Update 5/2019

Now have 44,000 mi. They are wearing very nice. They handle very good. Screw went through one tire. Tire repaired and working fine. These tires have performed excellent! There down to 5-6 thousands and wearing very evenly. I won’t hesitate purchasing same tires when time comes.

  5. Purchased 4 at Discount Tire 2 years ago and have 22k miles on them . Tread measures 3, 4, 5 and 6/32″ on Nissan Sentra. Replacement recommended at 4/32. Have kept inflated, rotated regularly. Warranted for 65k! Ridiculous.

    1. Agreed. Tires do not wear well. Even with regular rotates my 4 are almost worn out after 26,440 miles. Absurd! All 4 purchased on 6 15 2018 and he PRO G4 AS IS A WASTE OF MY MONEY.

  6. I put a set on my 2015 Edge and they are every bit as good in all categories as the Michelin Latitudes I replaced. Great handling, ride and no more or no less noise that the Michelin’s. If you need tires do yourself a favor and try the Pro G4’s. These are the ONLY tire I will buy from now on!!!!!

  7. I put 4 on my 04 Chevy astro in Sept of 2015 and have put 26,000 miles on them. They are holding up very well with minimal wear! I rotate every 5000 mile. I have not experienced any noise or balancing issues. I love these tires!

  8. Wow, I am a little surprised by some of the posts. I have 4 on my Acura TL and have never had such road noise from a set of tires in my life. Very loud. The other posts make me want to have the suspension reviewed.
Handling wise these tires are winners! I really like the feel and handling. Seem really sticky.

  9. Purchase Fall of 2015. 33,000 miles in to the warrantied 65,000 miles and the wear bars are showing. Had to replace all the way around. Will not purchase again. Why buy extended mileage tires when they only last half the life.

  10. Purchased the Falken Pro G4; for my 2013 Avalon, Limited 235/45/18 (went 10mm wider than stock). Truly a noticeable difference from the O.E.M Bridgestones. I have driven over 1,000 miles on them and I can truly feel the tires gripping the road. (The tires grab the road so much that I actually notice that normal acceleration is a bit slower than usual, although they will break pavement when pushed from a standstill). These tires are very quiet and you only notice any real noise on rougher paved roads otherwise it (noise) is minimal, the tread pattern has a mildly aggressive pattern. These tires absorb a lot of shock for you over humps and bumps and the side walls are strong. (Had a mis-installed valve stem and the tire held for at least 35 miles before someone told me I had a flat and I had no idea because I had ignored the T.P.S light; because the tires were just installed, and the tire still performed!). This tire is a steal of a deal as far as quality to price is concerned. I hope they last the 65,000 miles but I will purchase these again and will recommend them as well as long as they don’t let me down as I continue to evaluate.

Note: Wet driving not yet evaluated however, very optimistic.

    1. Lasted 95,000mi on rears.. just bought a full set. Best tires for my 13′ Buick Verano / base. Rotate every 5k and these will last!!

  11. I just had the ProG4 A/S’s put on our 2013 Sienna yesterday. (235/60 R17). We live in SE portion of MN were we just received 10-12 inches of a very, heavy wet snow overnight. I was able to test the tires out this morning in this mess and they plowed right through the snow and slush. (BTW, our Sienna is only front wheel drive.) So far, I’m impressed with their ability to churn through the snow and slush, however, I’ve only had them on less than 24 hrs and a handful of miles. Just puting it out there for those curious about the winter driving. I purchased the tires at Discount Tire and they hooked me up with a great price and there was a $75 online rebate that I took advantage of as well.

  12. 2006 Scion TC 225/45-17. Noticeably ride comfort, handling, road noise, and traction increase. It’s not the cheapest nor the most expensive but get you the best bang for the money. I am happy with the purchase.

  13. Just had four installed on my 03 mustang GT it’s only 30 miles to my house but in the mountains so it was test time. First 10 maybe 12 miles where a little sloshy but they are brand new, after that the hung well in corners with no sliding.noise is minimal and grip felt good probly had more to them but I’m not tryin to blow them off the car.all in all great all around tire at a great price. I paid 533 out the door so no complaints here.

  14. I have 4 of these on my 2010 Altima. They are very good not well known brand like Michelin and Bridgestone but research shows they are a very good value comparatively. They are $89 each at America’s Tire. Buy them you won’t be disappointed.

    1. $89 a tire? I see them for $140 and you have a car that almost is in my class. What size did you find that price point at?

  15. Just ordered 4 to replace my stock hankooks (optimo h428) on my chevy sonic. I will keep the oem hankooks in my garage for later or put em on craigslist.
These particular Falkens are supposedly better than the stock tires, per this website at least, in terms of both handling turns and treadlife.
One of the hankooks got a little bulge in the sidewall, from the road apparently. Not safe anymore, could blow out. So instead of 140 at the chevy dealership for one tire (the certified bumper to bumper warranty doesn’t include road damage,) I figured it’s time to get better tires with complete lifetime pothole protection for about 120 each out the door at Discount Tire. Seems like a smart choice.

    1. Sounds like the exact review I would write. I just bought a set for my 2012 Sonic to replace the factory Hankook tires. One of the Hankook tires had a sidewall separation so I replaced all four with a set of Falken Pro G4 A/S. The salesman said it would take a day to get a set in but checked what was aboard the delivery truck that just arrived. Talk about perfect timing. One set on the truck that were the correct size for my Sonic. Right from the truck to my car. Couldn’t get much easier than that. Only have about 15 miles on them driving home from Discount Tire, but I’m encouraged by the many positive reviews I have read.

  16. Just put them on my 330 sedan and I’m impressed by the ride quality and low noise. America’s Tire gave me one free because my Falken 916’s had begun to separate because of BMW’S normal camber settings that stress the inside edge of its tires. The tires were almost to the wear bars and I felt their willingness to stand behind their warranty very refreshing. I upsized from 205-50 to 225-45 because BMW said they would fit my 17 inch rims. The new G4’s track well and look great. The slightly lower sidewall and wider tread provide sharper handling over the standard Continental tires that came with the car. Please remember to rotate @ 4 thousand miles and keep the pressures above the minimum 32f and 38r levels that BNW advises as minimum pressures. Don’t forget to let your tires warm up a bit before pushing corners and your favorite on ramps! Lead, follow, or get out of the way! My 95k miles 330 feels like new again for $106 per tire…

  17. Add 185/60 R15 that I just put on my mini cooper. They are quiet on smooth roads but as I just got them today I need more time for review
