Goodyear Assurance All Season Tire Review & Rating

The Goodyear Assurance All-Season, released in mid-2014, is aimed squarely at the value-conscious vehicle owner looking for an all-season tire from a trusted name brand. With that in mind, Goodyear created the Assurance All-Season for all types of coupes, sedans and minivans.

Goodyear has taken an all-season tread compound and matched it to a symmetric tread pattern for dependable year-round traction. The tire’s larger independent shoulder blocks are designed to promote more responsive handling on dry or wet road surfaces.

Four wide circumferential grooves channel away water on wet pavement, while multiple biting edges are used to help with grip on snow, slush and ice. The added sipes do their job in most conditions up to a point. In deeper amounts of snow you may find traction a bit more difficult.

An optimized tread pattern is designed to assist in lowering road noise and creating a smoother overall ride, which is a plus for this tire.

Inside the tire are two steel belts with a polyester cord body that add more strength and durability to the tire. Goodyear has 14-17 inch sizes available, and all sizes are covered by a 65,000 mile tread warranty.

Pros

  • Dry traction and handling
  • Comfortable ride
  • Low road noise

Cons

  • Wet traction could be better
  • Treadlife has been less than expected for some drivers

Overall Thoughts

The new Assurance All-Season from Goodyear is their latest entry into the basic all-season category and delivers performance that we feel is in the middle to upper half of the class. On the plus side is the tire’s dry traction and handling. It handles itself well when cornering or taking on/off ramps on the highway.

Ride comfort is pretty good, but a touch below that of the General Altimax RT43 or Continental TrueContact. The tire is quiet as well. On the negative side is the lower for its class wet traction for more spirited drivers. We’ve also heard a few drivers mention in reviews of less than expected miles from the 65,000 mile tread guarantee.

Overall, the Goodyear All-Season provides pretty good value for the money. It makes a nice option for an everyday back and forth to work type of tire.

  1. I have 33k on the Goodyear Assurance All Season tires and the tread wear indicaters are showing. Subaru dealer, Midas and my local oil change folks indicated the tires are in bad shape..Tires were / are extremely noisy. Have a Michelin tires on my other SUV with 69k miles that have more tread left than the Goodyear. Terrible tires..

  2. I have tire choice in Broward County trying to give me these tire instead of the Yokohama tornante I selected, I started to read about these Good Year Assurance which are $143 as opposed to the Yokohama which are $121. I see now why they are trying to put these on for the same price, these have a 65,000 warranty which seems to last 20,000 and I am In southern Florida and the roads are very hot, with a soft tire, I give the Good Year 15,000 miles, the way I drive! I told them no after thinking and reading for 20 minutes. They told me they have to go pick them up… trying everything they can do to get me to take this set of tires.

Always someone else’s prerogatives! So they can hand off garbage to someone else.

    No thanks.

  3. Put the Assurance All Season on our 2010 Infiniti EX35 in Oct 2018. 2.5 yrs and 36,000 miles later and the tires are shot. Pure Garbage. Were rated for 80,000 mi. Will never buy GY again.

  4. I put please tires on My 2016 Toyota Rav4 And tomorrow I have to get all 4 tires replace They are just a little bit under 2 years old. And they are shot all 4 over Any only Warranty they will give me was $30 a tire That’s pitiful they just have like 20000 miles I will never Buy them again I always was told that Good years was good tires But they stink I don’t think I’ll ever buy a set of good years ever

  5. Tires came on 2015 chev cruze eco, 215 55 r17 . 4.5 years with 30 000km later and dealer says are done. Had no complaint until recent as getting noisy, wet and snow conditions were ok for city driving. Dry rot cracks visible all around tire near rim. I paid $1000 for tire warranty with dealership but now they expect I pay full price. I am now shopping for new tires and staying away from dealerships.

  6. I have had these tires on my car for 4 years and 11 months. They have 40,000 miles on them. They are noises. I have just been informed that they Each have dry rotIn many places. It was recommended that I buy new tires. I am VERY disappointed to see this kind of problem when I still have good tred left.

  7. Don Csada for the third time of contact and no answer as to the noisy GY assurance 225 55 17 tires on my new Subaru?
Noticed many others making the same complaint!! I would like an answer on why they are noisy and if I can switch them at a G Y dealer in my area for a different tirem there is hardly any miles on the tires , due to covid….
Or ought I have to contact Gus Liotta . hope not but expect a positive response . I am glad to find my earlier post but no response and no response from customer service , can u figure!!

  8. Have purchased a new Subaru Legacy with the 225 55 17 Good Year Assurance tires already on the unit. They are by far the noisest tires I have experienced , they whir make sounds like driving on wet roads and growl on pavement that is worn a bit and the top layer of the pavement has been disturbed in that the aggregate is showing somewhat..
    Should I contact the maker?

    1. I have Goodyear Assurance tiers on my Toyota Rav4 for about 7 months of the year and only drive about 7,000 miles per year at most. I never use 4wd and after only 5 years and likely much less than 30,000 miles the tread is nearly gone. These tires are not durable.

  9. Tires are bad for wet roFs. And are very noisy really disappointed. Plus I’m putting air in them too much. I expect that with old tires only have had 1year

  10. Bought these for my daughters 2008 Focus. Wanted a good all round / season tire. Have been shocked by how noisy they are on the road. I’m only leaving them on to get through the rest of this winter, then removing them and getting different tires. Wouldn’t recommend them to anybody that wants to have a conversation while driving down the road!

  11. Forget wet roads!
I literally cannot comprehend the rating – these tires are HORRIBLE on wet pavement. I have to accelerate unreasonably slowly to keep the tires from spinning. I cannot imagine other tires – unless they are bald – performing worse in wet conditions than these tires.

  12. Sam’s Club had these (215/65R15) on sale this past Saturday. New set of 4 tires…out the door…$134. If they only last as long as the previous two reviewers, I think I still will come out ahead.

  13. 2.5 years old and 28,000 miles. They are down to the wear line. They needed to be replaced and I didn’t go with these, again. I paid $130 a tire and only got $23 per tire, under warranty. Yeah…Goodyear for the lose.

  14. The worst tires that I have ever bought for my 2006 Avalon. 20,000 miles on one set of tires and 13,000 miles on the other set. I have replaced the tires but you know that I did not purchase Goodyear tires. I was greatly disappointed that the tires needed to be replaced so soon. I am a very good driver and take very good care of my vehicle so you can imagine my surprise when replacement of 4 tires was imminent.
