Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric Tire Review & Rating

Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric tires are designed to deliver ultra-high performance for drivers of all types of sports cars, coupes and luxury sedans. Built to provide the ultimate in dry and wet traction and cornering grip, the F1 Asymmetric utilizes the latest in tire technology.

They come with Goodyear’s own Racing Compound Technology that manages to incorporate a silica tread compound for wet traction, carbon black for dry traction and a new generation of polymers that are engineered to optimize and improve tread stiffness.

The F1 Asymmetric also uses solid and wider outboard shoulder blocks which help with cornering, while the continuous center rib contributes to better all-round tire stability and quicker steering response.

Twin steel belts are specially reinforced with three layers of spirally wrapped polyamide cord and Goodyear’s own Active Cornergrip Technology to provide stability, superior traction and ride comfort in summer conditions.

The tires are available with W or Y-speed ratings, and come in various 16-20 inch sizes.

Overall Thoughts

The Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric is an older model that has been updated with a newer version (Asymmetric 2). That being the case, this version offers a host of technology on-board that helps give it excellent dry or wet traction and handling. You can also expect to find quick steering response with overall good ride comfort. Noise tends to be a bit higher on this tire than similar tires, but it’s nothing overly excessive.

Our biggest problem area on this model is the shorter treadlife. Sure, some of it can be chalked up to more spirited driving habits, but we’ve also heard from many driver reviews of treadwear being much faster than it should be.

Goodyear has created a solid tire that delivers good performance in all areas. Although arguably not on the level of other top models such as the Continental DW, Michelin Super Sport and a few others, it still rates well in this category. However, we would suggest moving up to the Asymmetric 2 for higher overall performance.

Warranty

Goodyear provides a limited tread life warranty on the Asymmetric. Tire uniformity is guaranteed for 6-months or the first 2/32 inch of wear.

Materials and workmanship are warranted for 6-years and call for free replacement during the first year or first 2/32 inch of wear. A prorated amount is given for the remaining time period or down to the final 2/32 inch of tread depth.

Goodyear also includes their 30-Day Test Drive guarantee in which you can exchange them for another Goodyear model if you are not completely satisfied. This tire also comes with a 2-year roadside warranty.
