The Cooper Discoverer HTP is developed for drivers looking for a highway touring tire that provides confident all-season traction and handling to go with a smooth and quiet ride. Designed for use on SUV’s, crossovers and pickups, the HTP is built to deliver high performance whether the roads are dry, wet or snow covered.
An all-season silica enhanced tread compound combines with an asymmetrical tread pattern to provide traction and handling in a variety of road and weather conditions. R-Tech construction technology that Cooper utilizes further increases dry pavement grip and cornering.
On wet roads, a unique serpentine sipe design adds biting edges for enhanced grip. These sipes also increase the tire’s stability for smoother handling on the highway. Circumferential grooves evacuate water from under the tread and reduce the risk of hydroplaning, which is a strong point for this model.
Cooper has made driving on the HTP more quiet through a computer optimized tread pitch sequence. We’ve heard comments and reviews from many drivers that state this tire is very quiet on the highway.
Inside the tire you will find twin steel belts that are reinforced with spirally wrapped nylon for added strength and durability. They also promote more even treadwear and a longer tread life, which Cooper backs up with a 65,000 tread guarantee. The HTP is available in a range of sizes from 16-20 inches.

Overall Thoughts
The Cooper HTP has not received the attention as some of their other SUV/truck tires, but this tire offers some very nice performance for drivers looking for a highway all-season tire. The ride you get on this tire is very smooth and comfortable. Handling on dry, wet or even light snow is dependable and sure.
While cornering capabilities are very good, more spirited drivers may find the sidewalls are a bit more soft than they like. That said, LT models deliver excellent stability when pulling heavy loads.
Overall, the HTP is a very good performer and one we can easily recommend. It carries a 65,000 mile tread guarantee, and the lower price makes it a good choice when compared to similar models from Michelin and Bridgestone among others.

Warranty
Cooper includes a 65,000 mile treadlife warranty on the Discoverer HTP. There is also a first 2/32 inch tire uniformity guarantee as well.
Materials and workmanship are covered for 5-years and include free tire replacement during the first 2/32 inch of wear. Cooper then prorates out the amount for the remaining time period or down to the final 2/32 inch of tread depth.

I just purchased the Cooper HTP Discoverer tires at Discount Tires for my Silverado. I like the tread design and the fact that they’re made in the USA. I had Cooper tires in the past and never had a problem with them. I religiously rotated the tires every 5k miles. I got 66k miles on the last set. I think the price was fair at $806.00 with everything included. I hope these tires serve me well.
Just installed a set of DISCOVERER HTP. The ride is great tire is very quiet. Took off a set of Michelin Tires that had 112,000 miles on them at the end they were noisey and rough riding..
Just had these installed on my 2011 Nissan Frontier crew cab v6 with 44,000 miles on it. My original equipment tires were BE Goodrich. So far was surprised to find ride harshness has increased however noise levels appear to have decreased. Look great and nothing else negative to report so far. I am hoping as the tires break in the ride comfort will improve as I am comparing the ride to a well used set of tires. I also will try reducing fire pressure a little as well as the tires are currently inflated to general purpose recommend by the manufacturer. I seldom carry any serious loads so this might be over kill as it pertains to air pressure. Still tend to think these tires are a great value and I like the fact Cooper is a American company.
I have these on my 2014 Honda CRV. They were installed May, 2016, it is now December 2017. I have put about 28,000 miles on these 65,000 mile rated tires. Tread wear is ok, but road noise has increased beyond anything I would ever expect. I can’t imagine running these for another 37,000 miles. I have not yet taken the vehicle back to Discount Tire for their evaluation, but I can’t imagine they will do anything more than sell me a set at a prorated price. I am very, very disappointed to have spent $589.02 on this set of tires and now have enough road noise that I want to get rid of them.
Suggest you try a sound deadening spray product made by ” Boom mat. ” you can get it on EBay with a little shopping for a little over $10.00 a can shipped if you buy a few fans at a time. Don’t try and cover too much area with each can and spray the under body of your car with at least 3-4 cans which would be about 3to 4 heavy coats. Worked like a charm for me with our new SUV that came with Korean tires which are very noisy on chipped coated roads that are coming apart.

I recently mounted a set of these on a 1-ton dually pickup. Running empty they are smooth and quiet, wet and dry traction seem good. Pulling a 15,000 fifth wheel on mountain curves, the steering was properly responsive, and I didn’t see any instability relates to sidewall strength. Naturally I am inflated at double typical passenger vehicle service numbers.
Unfortunately this has not been a good tire for me. I’ve had the tires for 7 months and the tread depth is at 7/32nds, and I only have 12,000 miles on them. This tire was recommended and installed by a reputable tire company for my vehicle. Needless to say I will not purchase these tires again.
I have a set of Discoverer HTPs on my wife’s Lexus RX300, which at 70,000 miles are getting close to end of life.
Apart from excellent, even wear, theze tires are smooth and quiet with good handling and wet traction. Considering their mission these are probably the best tires I have ever had on any vehicle.
I’ve put about 5000 miles on a set of HTPs, so I can’t say much about the treadwear yet, but wow, the traction on snow and ice is incredible. Much better than the Firestone Destination LE (not LE II, which are supposed to be better than the LE) ones that were on my van before.
This is truly a great tire at a great price. I have these on my 2006 Nissan Pathfinder LE. This is a very quiet tire unlike the Bf Goodrich tires I had on before.
HAVE HTP ON MY JEEP, TRAVEL A LOT AND THIS IS A EXCELLENT HIGHWAY TIRE. SMOOTH RIDE AND NO ROAD NOISE, LIKE OTHER TIRES I’VE HAD.EXCELLENT TRACTION IN ANY WEATHER CONDITIONS. I WILL KEEP BUYING COOPER TIRES.
