Michelin Premier A/S Tire Review & Rating
There’s a good reason why so many other tire companies try to compare their tires to those from Michelin… because Michelin stands at the forefront of the latest in tire technology. Their newest model, the Premier A/S, which will replace the older Primacy MXV4, is a perfect example of this. Built for all types of coupes, sedans, crossovers and minivans, this new tire has never before seen technology in the tread that is designed to provide the highest in all-season performance.
A silica and sunflower oil tread compound features Michelin’s new EverGrip safety technology, which is a game changer for delivering long lasting wet traction. This new technology expands the rain grooves as the tire wears, giving it the ability to remove water and continue delivering wet traction. In addition, new grooves that were hidden in the rubber begin to emerge and start evacuating water and also provide added grip. The result is a tire that brakes and performs like new, even as it wears down.
The addition of sunflower oil in the tread compound, and added sipes around the tire that provide biting edges, which further enhance traction on snow and ice by making the tread more pliable in extreme cold temperatures.
Inside the tire you’ll find twin steel belts with a polyester cord body for added strength and durability. The Premier AS is available in sizes ranging from 15 to 18 inches and in H or V-speed ratings. Michelin also includes a 60,000 mile warranty.

Overall Thoughts
Even though Michelin tires can be among the more expensive models over some of their competitors the fact is, in most cases you get what you pay for in this business. This new Premier A/S may cost a bit more than a cheap tire, but you get real quality in return.
If you drive in climates that get any amounts of rain, you will like this new EverGrip technology built into the tire. We believe it’s a true game-changer. Testing by Michelin has shown that even as this tire has worn down it still provides better braking performance than other leading brand new tires.
Ride comfort is excellent on this model and road noise is lower than that of the MXV4, which is very good in itself.
Overall, Michelin has a great reputation, and rightly so, and the new Premier A/S only extends this even further. Simply stated, this is a solid and dependable new touring all-season tire that ranks right near the best in class. Highly recommended.

Warranty
Michelin provides a 6-year or 60,000 mile tread warranty on the Premier A/S. Tire uniformity is guaranteed for the first year or first 2/32 inch of wear.
Materials and workmanship are warranted for 6-years and include free replacement during the first year or first 2/32 inch of wear. A prorated amount is given for the remaining time period or down to the final 2/32 inch of tread depth.
You will also find a 3-year flat tire changing service and Michelin’s 30-day customer satisfaction guarantee.

Poor tread life on these Michelins. In 2017, I had 4 of Michelin Premier A/S tires installed on my Lexus ES330 at Costco when car was at 95k miles. Now after 5 years and hardly 20k miles later, service person told me that my tires are at 2/32. Mostly my son drives this car but occasionally I also Derive. We hardly put 4K miles on the car. When I went to wearhouse, they said warranty is 5 years and now I am out of warranty and they can’t do much. Tread is even and I kept tire pressure properly. I am really frustrated with tires get worn out at 1/3 rd of their life?
I am changing these tires after only 30,000 miles. The Michelin people were not helpful when I contacted them.
Bought new in April 2019 and now worn down to 2/32-3/32 in just 22,000 miles on a Scion xB driven less than 1K pleasure miles per month. Rotated every 5K and always properly inflated. Still ride and stop okay but the treadwear is unacceptable!! Worst Michelin’s we’ve ever had.

Older female driver on gen 3 Prius. Worn out at 35k miles. Tire pressure sensors always good. Tires just flat won’t last the advertised 60k.

Had Toyo Proxes as OEM on my 2012 Toyota Pius V. Lasted 37k. The replacement was Michelin Premier A/S. These were almost $1000 a set. Now at 35k on these tires, they are almost bald. So much for tire mileage. But the worst characteristic is the riude. Compared to the Toyos, these tires ride like they are square. Worst tires in 50 years of driving for ride quality. A Discount Tire manager said the he would give me an adjustment on the new tires I buy. These must be Michelin’s worst tire in history.
Our Premier tires did not last for even half the rated mileage. We were offered a new (different Michelin style) set at a “reduced” price that was much too high. The customer service rep who we talked with was very kind and seemed helpful, but when we got to the bottom line, it was unacceptable considering the inconvenience of getting help and the dangers posed by driving on their faulty tires. We’ll take our chances on a different brand going forward.
DO NOT BUY THESE TIRES!!! They wear out at about 30,000 miles and they are rated for 60,000.
I am so unhappy with these tires. My car sounds so loud now, it is actually embarrassing. I drive a 2014 Ford Escape and I know the noise control isn’t good on this car in general, but this is the 3rd set of tires I have had on this car and the first two sets of tires were much, much quieter. The tires seem to handle well, but I wish I hadn’t waited 6 months to complain about them so I could get our money back. We just don’t drive as much now, so I kept forgetting about it, but now that I am back to driving to work, I am seriously considering just buying different tires and keeping these as spares or trying to resell them. They are that loud.
Absolutely loved these tires at first on my Camry Hybrid. Great performance and comfort. HOWEVER, worn down to 2/32 after only 34,000 miles. Tires wore even, so no alignment or PSI issues. I will say that even at 2/32s, I have not slipped or felt loss of control. For the price, I really wish that they would have lasted much closer to the advertised 60K warranty. At least Sam’s Club pro-rated the tires. I’ve been a big fan of Michelins for years and have used them on many different cars, but cannot honestly say I would recommend these particular tires.
Don’t buy tires at Walmart or Sam’s.

I’ve had these for 4 1/2 years now and got the full 60.000 miles out of them on my 2013 KIA OPTIMA. Great tires! They are a little expensive but with this purchase, I truly believe I got what I paid for. VERY confident handling and the traction on wet roads is mind boggling. My car is a family car and I want the safest tire imaginable for my family. I feel that is EXACTLY what I got out of these Michelins. GREAT tire.
I have also had the problem with the wind pushing me around.
I have no comment on tread wear yet but can say the tires provide a quiet, smooth ride. Performance in the rain is very good. The negative I see so far is that that the car does not track as well at highway speeds with some cross wind. The more flexible rubber seems to allow the wind to push it off track.
Michelin Premier a/s tires are terrible. After one year of driving about 7000 miles and they’re worn almost to the tread bars. On ice or snow the Michelin premier a/s tires are bad, they slip and slide even on the smallest amount of ice/snow. I’m shocked at how bad they are because I’ve bought Michelin tires in the past and I’ve been happy with them. Stay away from Michelin premier a/s tires, there’s something wrong with them. I’ll never buy Michelin tires again.
Last week my car was in for its oil change, etc. which I do regularly. The service tech told me “your front two tires are shot and one of the rear tires is too.” I was dumbfounded. Tires with only 35,000 miles that are rated for 60,000…what the heck? Every tire had a different tread ware measurement. Front 2/32 and 3/32, Rear 4/32 and 5/32. This doesn’t make sense. The tech said my alignment was perfect. That leaves one thought — defective tires. I’m switching from these Michelin’s to Pirelli’s today.

That’s definitely inconsistent tire pressures.
Try keeping your tires inflated to the proper PSI with those crappy Pirellis. They might be made in Italy.
Hmmm, I would try a good diet and exercise program, also check your tire pressure, you may need to up the pressure on those that have higher wear.
So it sounds like you may have not been keeping an eye on the tires – for 35,000 mi. Which means you probably didn’t rotate them.??

Maybe you should consider not burning rubber on take off. That will save your tires
These tires are amazing! There literally is no difference in traction from dry to wet. I drive my little Scion xB hard! Being a Street bike racer, I like to take corners all out. I also know tires very well. On a sport bike, traction is your life! One slip and you can die. That said, these Michelin Premier A/S tires are by far the best wet traction tires I can imagine. They simply don’t slip! If you want safety for your family, you gotta get these tires.(period)
My previous Yokohama’s were better in the dry, where these are just average. But they are in a league of their own in the wet.
For a little more stability I run my tires a little closer to Michelin spec air pressure than Scion’s. It feels a little squirmy with the lower air pressure. The sidewall is designed more for the wet traction to sport. Just a couple pounds stiffened it right up. See Michelin’s site for proper inflation…at bottom of page.
A good solid tire. It replaced factory Dunlops that were not bad. This tire can handle anything but rain-grooves. I do a lot of freeway driving, and the “cuts” in the concrete are often wavy. For some reason these tires tend to follow the waves rather than driving over them, and occasionally can give the impression that you’re on some strange black-ice. But, no loss of control, just a new sensation for me. Otherwise, cornering, dry, sandy, desert roads is great. No snow and very little rain here, but occasionally I venture out over the mountains and it’s nice to know these tires are able. I won’t skimp on tires. With all the bad roads and crazy people, you’ve gotta have a tire that exudes stability and stops quickly. This tire, the Michelin A/S, can do that.
You may want to play with the air pressure a little, see if a little more or less than the recommendation helps.

I bought a set of 4 today and absolutely adore them! Baby’s new “shoes”! Worth every penny bc they ride so quiet and smooth..so comfortable..and I feel SAFE. Long warranty and the new technology and the company backs them so well sold me! I highly recommend these tires..you wont be sorry!
