Pirelli Scorpion Verde Tire Review & Rating

The Scorpion Verde All-Season from Pirelli is the company’s environmentally-friendly tire that is designed for drivers of SUV’s, and Crossovers, as well as more luxurious light trucks.

The Scorpion Verde is engineered with an emphasis on being “green”, and to that end, Pirelli uses eco-friendly materials in the all-season silica tread compound. That said, they have also created a compound that lowers rolling resistance and overall tire weight when compared to their other models in this class. The result is lower CO2 emissions and possible gains in fuel effieciency.

Dry surface traction and handling are enhanced through the asymmetric tread pattern and an optimized rubber to void ratio. It also makes for more even tread wear. Four wide circumferential grooves combine with longitudinal and lateral siping to provide more grip on wet or snow covered road surfaces. It lowers the risk of hydroplaning and gives added confidence when driving in bad weather.

An optimized tread pitch sequence dramatically reduces outside road noise and vibrations, which makes for a more quiet and enjoyable driving experience. We’ve heard from countless drivers who have commented on the quiet ride from the Verde AS.

Inside the tread you will find two steel belts that are reinforced with a nylon cap ply for added strength and stability at higher speeds, while also enhancing ride comfort and treadlife. Pirelli includes a 50,000 or 60,000 mile tread warranty depending on the tire’s speed rating. A run-flat version is also available for this tire.

Overall Thoughts

While you hear a lot of people talk about how good Michelin or Continental SUV/Crossover all-season tires are, these Pirelli Scorpion tires are nearly as good. They provide excellent handling and traction on a variety of road surfaces, whether it be dry, wet or snow covered. The steering control and feel just adds to your confidence behind the wheel. They ride comfortably and Pirelli backs them up with a 60,000 mile warranty.

That said, this model has been showing its age. In the time since its release, you can find better performance with the Scorpion Verde All Season or better still… move up to the Scorpion Verde All Season Plus.

Warranty

The treadlife warranty on this Pirelli model comes with an unlimited number ofyears. It calls for either a 50,000 mile warranty on H and V speed rated tires, or 60,000 miles on T speed rated tires. There is also a first 2/32 inch of wear guarantee on the tire’s uniformity.

Materials and workmanship are warranted for an unlimited time period and call for first year or first 2/32 inch of wear free replacement. A prorated amount is given until the tire reaches its final 2/32 inch of tread depth.
