Pirelli P Zero System Tire Review & Rating

The Pirelli P Zero System is one of the more unique tire offerings on the market today. Pirelli gives you the opportunity to choose from two distinctive tread styles that can be mixed or matched to suit your driving and performance needs. Developed for all types of high performance sports cars, sedans and sport trucks, the P Zero System is engineered to provide excellent dry traction and steering response.

One of your choices would be to select the Asimmetrico tread design for enhancing dry surface traction and cornering. The trade off is in wet traction, but if having maximum dry performance is what you are looking for, this is a solid choice. The tire features a multi-functional design for high performance braking, acceleration and grip. Steering is quick and provides excellent control throughout the speed range.

Another option is to choose a Direzionale tread design for the front, which provides increased handling on wet roads, while adding an asymmetric design on the rear axle. This “system” truly allows you to customize the tread design to fit your vehicle.

Pirelli offers these tires in various sizes from 15 to 19 inches, and they come with a Y-speed rating. You’ll also find that either tire sports two steel belts with nylon reinforcement for added strength and increased overall handling at higher speeds. A limited tread warranty that includes lifetime protection on materials and workmanship is also included.

Pros

  • Dry traction on all types of roads is above average
  • Outstanding cornering grip on dry surfaces
  • Steering response and feel is excellent on these tires
  • Comfortable riding tire

Cons

  • Would like to see better treadlife
  • A little noisy as they wear down

Overall Thoughts

The P Zero System is one of the more unique tire offerings you’ll find in that you can choose different tire patterns, sizes, etc., to fully customize what you would like to see on your vehicle. It’s unique to say the least, and it’s a real plus in our opinion.

Performance on dry surfaces is excellent with this model. The tire provides massive amounts of grip in the corners and features outstanding stability. Steering is quick and responsive and keeps you in control at all speeds. This tire also offers a very comfortable ride compared to others in this class.

The not so good though is the noise level. Expect some road noise, especially as the tire ages. Treadlife is another issue, but to be fair these are ultra-high performance tires.

Overall, the “System” may be a good choice for those seeking a tire that excels on dry road surfaces or one that can be used on track days. If you drive in more seasonal weather, you may want to look at a few other models instead.
