Barum Bravuris 3 Tire Review & Rating

The recently released Barum Bravuris 3 is the company’s UHP summer tire that is built to deliver solid traction and handling performance. Designed as a replacement to the older Bravuris 2, this newest model is created for all types of sport coupes and high-powered sedans.

Barum, which is a sub-division of Continental, uses a high-tech tread compound and molds it into an asymmetric tread pattern that is designed to deliver improved dry/wet traction with more precise steering response and control, which it does pretty well.

Barum Brauvuris 3 Tire Review

Large outer tread blocks and intermediate tread blocks provide for quicker steering response and better overall stability at higher speeds. You can expect to find very good road feel when driving on this model, which may surprise you in some instances.

Four circumferential grooves and added lateral grooves help channel away water for enhanced traction on wet streets. The tread is also siped, which further increases grip and reduces braking distances.

Barum has varied the tread block sizing and closed the shoulders to aid in reducing unwanted road noise, and for the most part this tire is pretty quiet. Sizes on the Bravuris 3 are available from 14-20 inches, and come in either T, H, V or Y-speed ratings. A 40K mile tread warranty is also part of the package.

Pros

  • Dry traction and cornering grip
  • Responsive steering with good feel
  • Comfortable ride for a UHP tire
  • Good performance and value for the money

Cons

  • Increase wet grip a bit

Overall Thoughts

Although Barum may fly under the radar so to speak here in the U.S., it is a widely popular brand in other parts of the world. They have a number of tires in their lineup, and this newer Bravuris 3 is certainly one of their most popular tires.

We’ve heard many driver reviews speak to how well this model performs for the lower cost, and we agree as well. Traction and handling on dry or wet pavement is very good. While not up to the levels of a Michelin Super Sport or Continental DW among others, it does a nice job. The tire delivers quicker steering response and good on-center feel.

The one area we could see improving would be wet grip at the limits. While not bad, it’s something to keep in mind. Overall, if you’re looking to save quite a bit of money on a set of new UHP summer tires, the Bravuris 3 is a good option that fills the bill.

  1. Just bought a 2017 Hyundai Elantra and these are the tires the dealership installed. These are a very smooth, quite, and responsive set of tires. I will say this though: they are not an A/S tire. I live in the mountains of Western NC and it’s currently the beginning of November. These tires are listed as a summer tire and it’s noticeable when driving on cold and wet surfaces. I can’t really call that a complaint since they are listed as summer tires. I will likely get a set of A/S tires for the vehicle simply due to where I live. However, if you live in the deeper south and southwest, where cold and wet roads aren’t a major issue, I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend these tires.

  2. Third summer with 225/45/17 on my 325CI convertible. I feel they are some of the most quiet tires I have ever owned… even with the top down.
No complaints and very reasonably priced in my opinion..

  3. Just had tires installed on my M-B S550. Replaced a set of Sumitomo Tourers. Much firmer, crisper feel and very good traction. Very stable, even at high speed and tracked very straight. Will report again after a few thousand more miles.

  4. I’ve had 3 sets, 2 on an ACURA TL and one on my Q60S and they are outstanding tires for the price. My only complaint would be in wet, but being in Texas it’s the least of my worries! A real bang for the buck. They are extremely quiet, great ride, great treadwear, look great, only wish they made them in a higher size that the 255’s for 19’s and 20’s, 265’s and 275’s. But this is a tire you will NOT be sorry you bought, really great product!

    1. I am waiting to put them on my 2015 sonata, I had a 2013 sonata and that car wondered no matter what tire was on. Horrible suspension on that model. If you don’t have a newer model… trade up now. The new ones float on the road.
