Atturo AZ800 Tire Review & Rating

For sport truck and SUV owners looking for an ultra-high performance all-season tire, the Atturo AZ800 was built specifically with you in mind. Featuring a distinctive tread design and a focus on handling, the AZ800 is priced lower than many big-name models in order to fit drivers on a tight budget.

Atturo uses an all-season silica based tread compound with added amounts of carbon black that are matched up with a directional tread pattern and larger shoulder blocks that provide for increased handling and precision cornering grip and stability. It’s an area this excels in and one that is often mentioned in other driver reviews as well.

Added sipes around the tread and the tires’ sloped radius gradient, or SRG, give it dependable traction on wet pavement while reducing the risks of hydroplaning. These added sipes help with grip on snow and ice, but this is by no means a winter tire.

The AZ800 sports a high tensile bead wire, high bead filler and jointless tread ply construction adds to higher levels of stability throughout the speed range. Twin steel belts and a high turn-up polyester casing enhance durability and reduce heat build-up. Atturo also has a built-in rim protector that does a good job of protecting your wheels from accidental damage.

Atturo has an array of 17-24 inch sizes available with speed ratings of V, W and Y. All sizes carry a 440 UTQG rating and a limited tread warranty.

Pros

  • Dry traction
  • Smooth ride
  • Outstanding handling and cornering stability
  • Treadlife is better than expected
  • Performance and value for the money is exceptional

Cons

  • Winter traction is predictably poor
  • Lower road noise just a hair

Overall Thoughts

The AZ800 from Atturo is a good find in the UHP truck and SUV market. It simply delivers the type of solid performance in the areas of dry traction and cornering grip that are normally only found in tires like the Yokohama Spec-X among other big names. You may notice the tread design somewhat reminds you of the Spec-X in a way.

Expect a smooth ride and not a lot of excessive noise, although there is some. It’s not a major problem, but we want to mention it. Winter traction is what you would expect from an all-season tire, which is to say it’s poor. Treadlife is a bright spot unless you tend to leave too much of it at green lights.

Overall, Atturo has crafted a well-balanced UHP tire that is value-priced to fit budget-conscious drivers. We rank it in the upper half of the class and give it a high recommendation..

  1. Put 275/45-19 @ 295/40-20 AZ800 on 2014 GT500 Shelby and what a difference in traction and driveability. I did have to change gear ratio to 3.73 because the added height of the 295/40-20 which gave me a gear ratio equivalent to 3.55 which is perfect for this car that came with 3.31. Car has stock suspension and tires do not run. I highly recommend these tires for price comfort and overall driveability. Have driven them down to 7 above zero in winter conditions and on dry pavement at that temperature traction was still awesome. Don’t buy Goodyear F1 these AZ800 tires are good for 168 and believe me it’s more than adequate. Took the squiggle out of 3rd gear when pulling out to pass under full acceleration with GY F1. Also gave me at least 5/8″ more ground clearance-no more rubbing the front spoiler. Tires fill up the wheel wells front and back making the car look like it was lowered. All in all it not only looks like a beast it is. Rides better drives better can’t wait to go to the drag strip next summer.
