New Michelin Premier A/S Set For Spring Release

Michelin North America Inc. has announced a Spring 2014 release of their new Premier A/S tire.

This new model features Michelin’s exclusive EverGrip technology, which according to Michelin, gives the tire the ability to maintain wet traction even as it wears down.

How this new technology works is that hidden grooves begin to emerge as the tire wears, thereby expanding the treads rain grooves and widening them so that the tire continues to expel water as it would when the tread is newer.

According to Scott Clark, COO of Michelin North America’s passenger and lighttruck tire division, “The Michelin Premier A/S tire represents a significant breakthrough in automotive safety. With our truly revolutionary advancements in tire technology, we are able to directly address the effects of tire wear on traction and have been able to break the traditional paradigm.”

Michelin has stated that 32 sizes, ranging from 185/65R15 to 245/45R18 will be made available with the release this Spring, and will be manufactured in North America at three different facilities. A 60,000 mile tread warranty will also be included.

The new EverGrip technology is said to deliver shorter stopping, increased hydroplane resistance and enhanced grip whether the tire is new or worn.

“The Michelin Premier A/S with EverGrip is a compelling new safety technology that helps keep the driver in control and the car firmly planted on the road,” Mr. Clark said.
