Yokohama Geolandar G900 Tire Review & Rating
The Geolandar G900 is Yokohama’s highway all-season tire used mainly as original equipment on the Subaru Forester and Outback. It has been designed and tested to the car makers specific requirements. That said, it’s also available as a replacement tire for drivers of various trucks and SUV’s that have the same fitment.
An all-season tread compound and asymmetric tread pattern is M+S rated for added traction in rough weather. This tread also increases dry traction and cornering grip, while maintaining good stability and steering response.
Three circumferential grooves aid in evacuating water from under the tread on wet streets, as well as reducing the risk of hydroplaning. We’d like to say it does a good job at wet handling, but unfortunately it could be improved.
Inside the tire you will find two steel belted construction for added strength and durability at higher speeds. A polyester cord body enhances ride comfort and promotes more even treadwear. Limited sizes are available in 16 and 17 inches.

Overall Thoughts
Although the G900 is used mostly on the Subaru Forester, it is also used as a replacement tire on vehicles that it fits. That said, we would not recommend it. Yes, the tire does provide very good traction on dry road surfaces. The steering is responsive and overall ride comfort is not bad.
On the other hand, traction on wet or snow covered roads can be another story. Many drivers have also mentioned having traction issues on this model. Beyond that, tread life is a major issue as well. Finally, the tires get noisy as they wear down, more so than normal.
Overall, there are much better choices in a highway all-season tire for your truck or sport utility vehicle. The Yokohama YK-HTX would be a nice option. Other models like the Michelin Defender LTX M/S or General Grabber HTS60 would be ones you may want to consider in place of the G900.

Warranty
Yokohama provides a limited tread warranty on the G900. Tire uniformity is guaranteed for the first 2/32 inch of wear. Materials and workmanship are warranted for 5 years and include free replacement during the first year or first 2/32 inch of wear. A prorated amount is given for the remaining time period or down to the final 2/32 inch of tread depth.
