Yokohama Advan ST Tire Review & Rating

The Advan ST from Yokohama is built to deliver high performance traction and cornering grip for drivers of today’s hottest SUV’s. Although not intended for winter driving, the ST is designed to provide high speed driving capabilities and a smoother ride on both dry or wet road surfaces.

The advanced construction used on the ST is designed to increase stability at much higher speeds to fill the needs of the newest generation of high performance SUV’s.

A high performance silica enhanced tread compound is formulated to add increased grip regardless of outside temperatures. The stylish directional tread pattern features a wide center rib and unique W-shaped grooves to go with a 5-pitch variation for enhanced steering response and increased high speed handling. Owners of this tire have commented in reviews that it grips the road like a sports car.

Inside the tire you will find two steel belts with nylon cap plies that add more strength and durability to the tire, while a polyester cord body creates a better overall ride comfort. The Advan ST is available in 17-22 inch sizes, and comes with a W-speed rating.

Overall Thoughts

The Advan ST is a well-balanced street/sport tire for high performance SUV’s and sport trucks. You can expect exceptional grip on dry pavement, whether you are braking, accelerating or cornering. The steering allows you to be in complete control, which is not something you can always say for other tires in this category.

Ride comfort is very good for this style of tire, and noise only becomes a little more pronounced as the tire wears down. Even then, it is still not a huge distraction. The only area we would like to see added improvement in is tread wear. Depending on your driving habits it could be shorter than expected. For those drivers who take it a little easier on the road, this will not be a factor. Overall, we rank this tire as one of the better summer high performance SUV tires in its class.

Warranty

Yokohama provides a limited tread warranty on the ST. Tire uniformity is guaranteed for the first 2/32 inch of wear. Materials and workmanship are warranted for 5-years and include free replacement during the first year or first 2/32 inch of wear. A prorated amount is given for the remaining time period or down to the final 2/32 inch of wear.
