TreadWright Claw II M/T Tire Review & Rating

The TreadWright Claw II M/T is a rugged, aggressive looking mud tire that’s made here in America. Built for a wide range of off-road and 4×4 vehicle owners, the Claw II M/T is engineered to provide maximum off-road traction, especially when driving through mud, over rock or in other difficult terrain.

Manufactured using a high-quality rubber compound and featuring an aggressive tread pattern, this remolded M/T tire has a look that is somewhat similar to the BFG KM2.

TreadWright Claw II M/T Tire Review

Over rough terrain, the likelihood of getting a puncture is reduced due in part to the tougher, reinforced sidewalls on this tire. An optimized footprint allows the Claw II to perform well on smoother surfaces too.

TreadWright has added the option of pinning #17 studs for winter driving use, which is a plus for those living in areas that see a good deal of severe winter weather conditions.

TreadWright offers a range of 15 to 20 inch LT sizes, with load range ratings of either C, D or E. A 2-year workmanship warranty is included on all sizes.

Pros

  • Aggressive, good looking tread design
  • Excellent off-road traction, grip and handling
  • Easy to balance
  • Low cost

Cons

  • Expect a good amount of road noise on the highway
  • Shorter treadlife if used as a daily driver on the street

Overall Thoughts

The vast majority of owners of the TreadWright Claw II M/T tire agree that it’s an eye-catching, aggressive looking mud tire that enhances the appearance of different types of trucks, jeeps, SUV’s and other off-road vehicles. Beyond appearances though, this tire delivers solid off-road performance on all types of terrain. We’ve heard the same thing from other driver reviews as well.

Despite the weight of these tires, they balance much easier than other models like the Gladiator X-Comp and a number of others. Some owners of these tires have been so impressed by the durability, traction and handling of these off-road tires, that they have said they would be willing to pay much more for these tires because of their higher quality.

On the negative side, you can tell just from looking at the tread design, noise is going to be an issue on the road. They are loud, there’s no doubt about it. In addition, expect a shorter treadlife if they are used as your daily driver or see a lot of miles on the highway. We’ve heard many drivers mention getting 15-25K miles out of the tread due to all the highway use. This is a tire best suited for off-road use or for use by farmers and those living in rural areas.

Overall, there is a lot to like about these affordable, good looking M/T tires. Costing less than many similar tires in its class, the Claw II M/T does its job off-road quite well.
