Toyo Open Country MT Tire Review & Rating

For light trucks and SUV’s, finding a quality tire designed for mud terrain can be difficult, however the Toyo Open Country M/T delivers that, while also striving to provide all-round solid performance in a variety of road and weather conditions.

Off and on road stability and grip are enhanced through the aggressive, attack tread design with hook shaped blocks and, in addition to this, the open, scalloped shoulder blocks that get rid of water, mud and rocks to offer traction that is among the better tires in this category.

With deep sipes and an over-the-shoulder tread, the Open Country M/T is suitable for snow and wintery conditions as well and they can truly be classed as an all-season tire.

Strength, longevity and durability are all provided with the high turn-up, 3-plypolyester casing. This also helps to increase the load that the vehicle can handle. Toyo currently offers sizes ranging from 15 to 24 inches and load ranges up to an E.

The Open Country M/T may surprise you with how well it performs in all types of off-road conditions. With a solid tread design and on board technology, the tires can handle just about any road surface and this extends to winter conditions such as snow and ice. The tires dig in and get the job done.

Treadlife is long lasting on this model, with many drivers reporting that they are seeing over 50k+ miles, which is not unreasonable for a tire that really defines durability. Tread noise is nowhere near as loud as you would normally find in a mud terrain tire. While not whisper quiet, you won’t find yourself having to jack up the stereo to drown out the noise.

Overall, while not on the same level as tires like the BFGoodrich Mud-Terrain T/A KM2 and a few others, this model does a very good job at getting through just about anything you might want to throw its way.

Warranty

Toyo provides a limited tread warranty on the Open Country M/T. Tire uniformity is guaranteed for the first 1/32 inch of wear.

Materials and workmanship are warranted for 5 years and include free replacement for the first 25% of wear. A prorated amount is given for the remaining time period or down to the final 2/32 inch of tread depth.

Toyo also includes their No Regrets 45-day, 500 mile trial guarantee. If you are not completely satisfied with the tires you may refund or replace them with another model.
