Nexen Roadian HP SUV Tire Review & Rating

Nexen has raised the bar for sport truck/SUV and crossover owners with their Roadian HP SUV tire. Designed to provide high performance all-season driving capabilities, this widely popular tire also has the handling and cornering grip that serious enthusiasts seek in their tires.

A high performance silica-based tread compound is matched up to a V-shaped directional tread pattern for increased dry and wet traction on all types of road surfaces. Larger shoulder blocks around the tread provide increased cornering grip and the arrow type center rib adds stability and improves steering response, which is a strong point on this model and mentioned frequently from other driver ratings and reviews.

Nexen Roadian HP SUV Tire Review

The Roadian HP SUV really shows its strength on wet pavement. The deeper tread grooves and unique V-shaped pattern along with circumferential grooves channel away water and reduce the risk of hydroplaning. It also enhances traction and provides increased braking performance. You simply feel more confident behind the wheel on this tire in wet weather.

Nexen hasn’t forgotten about driving comfort with this tire either, as the five random pitch variation dramatically reduces tread pattern noise for a more comfortable ride.

Inside the tire you will find two steel belts with nylon reinforcement and Nexen’s optimized belt contour system for added strength and high speed stability and durability. A polyester cord body increases ride comfort and promotes a more even treadwear. You’ll find this tire available in 16 – 22 inch sizes, and speed ratings of H or V.

Pros

  • Outstanding dry and wet traction
  • Braking performance on dry or wet pavement
  • Ride is comfortable
  • Tread life

Cons

  • Winter traction in deeper snow and ice

Overall Thoughts

Driving on the Nexan HP SUV it’s easy to see why this tire is quickly becoming popular among performance SUV and crossover owners. It simply provides the high performance that a lot of other models do not.

The steering is sharp and responsive, while cornering grip is very good as well. Although driving in deep snow or ice may not be the best, it’s no worse than most any other UHP all-season tire. Noise is not excessive, but you may find a little extra noise on rougher pavement. Tread life is not bad, and it carries a 560 UTQG treadwear rating.

Overall, if you’re looking for a high-performance all-season SUV tire that features a lower price over top name brands, this is may be a good option for you.

  1. Bought these tires at Firestone in Tucson on corner of Pantano and Speedway. Salesperson spoke highly of them. They sounded rough on poor payment but smooth on smooth payment. I had a blowout in the left rear tire. Both sidewalls blewout. Firestone said they would not honor the warranty and to call Nexen. The Nexen person recommended did not return my call. So, I filed a formal complaint with the AZAGO. The tires only had 3600 miles on them. I am now afraid to drive my vehicle because I have to use the highway(I-10) to get into town. My question is this: Are these tires retreads? I will never buy another Nexen.

  2. I drive a FX35 Infiniti. I put Nexens on my last Infiniti and had a really good experience. Put Nexen Roadians on tjhis FX35 and the niose from these tires are very annoying. I thought i had a wheel bearing going bad.Took it to Infiniti and they informed me it was the tires. I was shocked. These tires are less than a year old. Do I any recourse to to this noisy problem.. I hate these tires.
