Hankook Optimo H727 Tire Review

Driving on wet road surfaces, or snow and even ice covered roads, is made safer by four circumferential grooves and hundreds of unique sipes in the tread. Many drivers have reported in reviews of this model that driving through 3-6 inches of snow is easily accomplished.

Steering response and cornering are improved due to a continuous center rib and tapered lateral slots that provide added feel while driving. This also results in increased confidence when driving in all types of road conditions.

Inside the tire’s structure are two steel belts made of high-tensile steel and a nylon cap ply that work together to provide increased handling and improved durability. Finally, Hankook has a 100,000 mile tread life warranty on this tire, which is one of the longest mileage warranties you’ll find on any tire today.

Pros

  • Dry pavement traction and steering response is superb
  • Very quiet tire with a smooth and comfortable ride
  • Excellent rain, snow and ice traction
  • 100,000 mile tread warranty is outstanding

Cons

  • Overall handling could be improved
  • Hard to balance for some

Overall Thoughts

There is a lot to like about the H727 tire. From the surprisingly good performance in all weather conditions to the smooth and comfortable ride on the highway, it’s easy to see why it has been one of Hankook’s most popular models in their lineup.

Traction in year round conditions is good, with only heavy winter weather presenting any issues with traction on the road. The ride is smooth and comfortable as you would expect with a tire like this, and treadlife has shown to be good. Add to that the industry leading 100K mileage warranty and Hankook has come up with a winning tire.

Although nowhere near the same level of performance as tires like the Pirelli Cinturato P7 All Season Plus or Cooper CS5 Grand Touring among others, the H727 remains a good buy for anyone looking for a lower costing higher performing all-season tire.

  1. I bought a set of Hankooks last year for my 2013 Nissan Rogue. I went with Hankook this time because they were cheaper than the Bridgestone ecopia or turanza that I normally buy. The Hankooks have a slight road noise that annoys me just a little, most people probably wouldn not even notice the noise, but tread wear seems very good. As an outside sales rep., I am behind the wheel a lot. Having driven mostly Nissans -Altima and Rogue- for the past 30 years I have decided that Bridgestones are the quietest and smoothest driving tires Ive ever used. My next set will be Bridgestones again after the Hankooks wear out.

  2. Sent airborne over 3 lanes.. LMAO That is the dumbest story I’ve ever heard but just for people that happen to read your absolute BS story let me clear some things up so they don’t buy into your nonsense. I drive trucks across the country…That’s 72’ of truck up to 80,000 pounds so our tires have over double the pressure that a little sedan tire has and I have blown tires and when a tractor trailer tire blows it sounds like a cannon going off and I can tell you and everyone else that happens to read your garbage story you’re totally full of s**t because your tire did not blow and send you airborne over three lanes of traffic, that is a physically impossible. Your little tire with the absolute most 44 psi did not launch your car off the ground whatsoever let alone over three lanes of traffic. If all four of your tires blew at the exact same time the physics of what you are claiming is still an impossibility and so far fetched it’s almost laughable

  3. DON’T BUY! TIRES EXPLODE!!! Purchased these tires a year ago. Tires were rotated every 5,000 miles. While traveling 60 mph on the freeway, in rush hour traffic, the front driver’s side tire exploded, which caused the car to go airborne. It landed on the center medium which then caused the driver’s side back tire to explode. Again the car went airborne and threw me across 3 lanes of traffic. Three tires/rims are destroyed, rear axle is bent & needs to be replaced, front struts are damaged, along with alignment & I don’t know what else. I am lucky to be alive.
