Sears Roadhandler Touring Tire Review & Rating

After a 12+ year hiatus, Sears has brought back its popular Roadhandler Touring tire. Built for drivers of coupes, sedans, minivans and crossovers, this model is designed to provide confident all-season performance with a more quiet and comfortable ride.

A high-tech all-season tread compound also features added abrasion resistance that helps in preventing sidewall abrasions and extending tire life. The symmetric pattern and center rib block add to steering response and enhanced stability at higher speeds.

Four circumferential grooves channel away water from under the tread and reduce the risk of hydroplaning. Added lateral grooves are designed to provide increased bite in light snow, something this tire does a pretty good job at.

Sears has built the Roadhandler Touring to be more quiet and smoother riding due to the single strand bead wire. Combined with a high hardness bead filler, it adds durability for a longer lasting treadlife.

Inside the tire you'll find twin steel belted construction and a joint-less full cover for added strength and stability, as well as enhanced durability. Sizes are available ranging from 14 to 18 inches and speed ratings up to a V. Sears stands behind this model with a 100,000 mile warranty, which is among the highest you will find today.

Pros

  • Excellent dry and wet traction
  • Ride quality
  • Good value for the money
  • Treadlife
  • 100K Warranty

Cons

  • Winter handling

Overall Thoughts

Even though this Roadhandler Touring model is built by Hankook, it's nice to see Sears bring back this popular tire brand. There's a lot to like about this tire, from its solid dry and wet traction to its no-nonsense 100K mile warranty.

What could be improved on is winter handling in deeper snow and ice, but this is not a dedicated winter tire. That said, its performance is better than many in this class. Cornering grip is what you would expect from a tire that carries a 700 UTQG rating. The tread is a bit harder and doesn't provide the high speed cornering grip to suit every driver. But again, this is not a tire built for ultra-high performance handling.

Overall, Sears has brought back a winner in the Roadhandler Touring. The performance and value for the money makes it an excellent choice in an all-season touring tire.
