SA4 All Season Tire Review & Rating

The SA4 All Season tire is designed to provide predictable year round performance in all types of driving conditions for drivers of coupes, sedans and minivans. Who makes the SA4 tire line? SA4 is produced by Goodyear’s Kelly tire division as an affordably priced all-season tire.

An all-season tread compound and the tire’s symmetric tread pattern are designed to deliver dependable traction on both dry and wet pavement, while also providing responsive steering and feel.

SA4 All Season Tire Reviews

Four circumferential grooves channel away water from under the tire for enhanced traction on wet road surfaces, as well as reducing the risk of hydroplaning. SA4 has addressed road noise by utilizing variable pitch tread blocks which effectively work to lower noise and increase ride comfort.

Inside the tire you will find two steel belts for added strength and durability throughout the speed range. The tire features a 420 treadwear rating to go with a 45,000 mile tread warranty. Sizes are available in 14-16 inches and come with a T-speed rating. This tire is mainly found at Discount Tire.

Overall Thoughts

It would be easy to dismiss the SA4 All Season as just another cheap tire that will need replacing after a few miles on the road, but that isn’t the case with what we have found with this model. Sure, it isn’t on the same level as tires from Michelin, Yokohama, etc., but it does have its place in the market.

Dry and wet traction is pretty good on this tire for the average driver. Ride comfort is decent and the tread life is better than expected. We’ve heard of drivers getting upwards of 50K miles out of the tread.

Road noise is a little more pronounced, especially at higher speeds, but it is not to the point of being excessive. Winter handling is ok on light snow, but heavy winter weather conditions can be problematic on this model. The other bigger issue that may affect more spirited drivers is high speed handling. This is not a high performance cornering tire by any means, but that’s also not what it’s built for.

Overall, if finding one of the lowest priced budget-friendly tires that still offers decent all-season traction and a comfortable ride is what you need, this tire is well worth checking out.
