Pirelli P Zero Nero Tire Review & Rating

As a maximum high-performance summer tire, the P Zero Nero from Pirelli combines the latest in technology with “at the limits” performance that drivers of higher end sports cars and sedans are seeking. With an ultra-low profile design and larger diameter sizes, the P Zero Nero is engineered to work harder so you can play harder, just as their slogan states.

A high-silica and carbon black tread compound has been developed into an asymmetric tread design with a wider contact patch for increased cornering grip, as well as a crisper and more precise steering response throughout the speed range. The tire’s wider contact patch and unique tread pattern further enhance dry and wet traction on all types of roads.

Pirelli P Zero Nero Tire Review

Four wide circumferential grooves provide increased wet handling and reduce the risk of hydroplaning. The tread makeup also contributes to greater stopping and acceleration capabilities, something that many drivers mention in reviews and ratings. You feel more in control in all types of driving situations on this tire.

Inside the tire you will find two steel belts with a nylon and aramid reinforcement for added strength and durability at higher speeds. Pirelli offers sizes from 17-22 inches, and provides a lifetime materials and workmanship warranty on the tire.

Pros

  • Dry and wet traction is outstanding
  • Excellent cornering grip
  • Crisp steering response
  • Ride comfort is above average

Cons

  • Treadlife may be shorter depending on driving style

Overall Thoughts

Pirelli has several different models in its P Zero lineup, but we would argue that this P Zero Nero is one of their best in terms of all-around performance. You can expect to find incredible dry traction and cornering performance on this tire at all speeds. The steering provides excellent feel and keeps you in control at all times.

Ride comfort and lower road noise is yet another positive for this model. For a lower profile tire, the more comfortable ride may surprise you. Treadlife is ok for the most part, but it really comes down to how hard you push it, which is really the case for any ultra-high performance tire. We’ve heard drivers getting 20K miles out of the tread while others had gotten double that.

Overall, Pirelli has done a very good job on this tire. Although we feel it is just below the Michelin Pilot Super Sport and Bridgestone Potenza S-04 Pole Position, it still makes a solid choice in a high performance tire.
