Pirelli P4 Four Seasons Tire Review & Rating

As Pirelli’s standard all-season touring tire, the P4 Four Seasons is built to offer drivers of all types of coupes, sedans, minivans and smaller SUV’s, dependable year round performance and comfort in all road and weather conditions.

The tire features an asymmetric and computer-aided design (CAD) that optimizes the tread profile, while the silica enhanced tread compound allows the tire to wear much better and improve overall fuel economy.

Pirelli P4 Four Seasons Tire Review

Dry surface grip and steering response is increased due to the continuous center rib and independent tread blocks. Road noise is reduced by a variable pitch sequence tread block.

Wet and snow covered surface handling is enhanced with two circumferential grooves and the computer optimized siping on the tread. This helps expel more water away from the tire and increase hydroplane resistance, while also providing added biting edges on snow covered roads.

Inside the tread you will find two high-tensile steel belts that are spirally wrapped with nylon to increase strength and durability. It also improves the quality of the ride you’ll experience on these tires. Pirelli stands behind this model with an 85,000 mile tread warranty.

Pros

  • Around town grip and steering response is very good
  • Tire rides comfortably and have only minimal road noise
  • Snow and ice traction is quite good compared to other tires in this class
  • Excellent warranty and a good overall value

Cons

  • Would like to see a little better tread life out of these tires

Overall Thoughts

These P4 Four Season tires perform well for all-season use. They provide more than adequate grip and handling on both dry and wet surfaces, and offer a nice comfortable ride as well.

The only drawback we can really say is that many drivers have mentioned not getting the 85,000 miles out of the tread life. That aside, the warranty coverage is excellent and includes a no time period limit on the tread life. All in all we feel these tires belong in the top 10 for standard all-season touring tires.

  1. I had a set of the P4s on my 2002 Saturn SL2 and they were outstanding in the summer and the first winter they got me to work and back on light ice and snow just fine.
By year 2, they still handled well in rain and dry roads in the summer but ice and snow traction was now poor.
