For the better part of a decade, Nokian has offered what many tire industry leaders consider the best winter tires available on the market. Among all of their models, the WR G2, is arguably there best. As an “All-Weather Plus” tire, it features a unique design to go with the latest in tire technology.

Nearly all of Nokian’s tires offer industry-leading low rolling resistance. The end result is a nice savings in fuel expenses, and the WR G2 is no exception to this rule. According to Nokian, test results indicate that WR G2 tires have around 20-25% less rolling resistance than any other comparable tire.This high level of performance mixed with “All-Weather Plus” performance comes from Nokian’s unique engineering design.

The company has patented what they call the “Hakka Sipe”, which is a zigzag pattern that is cut completely through the tread block. This separates each block into a series of semi-independent blocks with jagged edges. The tread blocks grab more of the road’s surface and create outstanding grip on snow, slush and ice.

In addition, Nokian has built into the WR G2 a technology called “Wipe Sipes.” During braking, the tread blocks on the tire flex backwards allowing the sipes to sweep out the water from under the tread which results in increased braking grip in adverse conditions.

Nokian’s WR G2 tires are constructed using a rubber compound that uses canola oil and cool silica rather than carcinogenic oils. Aside from being a greener choice for the environment, the unique compound stays very flexible on the snow and gives a sticky feeling in the rain. Additionally, the compound provides a smooth ride and road noise is minimal.

Simply stated, the Nokian WR G2 is outstanding in winter weather conditions. They are one of the few true all-weather tires on the market. It is obvious that Nokian wanted to build upon their legacy of being the market leader in winter tires.
