Nokian Rotiiva HT Tire Review & Rating
The Nokian Rotiiva HT all-season tire boasts of having exceptional performance on both asphalt or gravel, as well as in light off-road conditions. This tire is specifically designed for use on light trucks, commercial vans and heavier SUV’s for drivers who need a tougher every day type of tire that will withstand harder use.
Nokian uses a High Modulus silica based tread compound which is designed with added strength and durability in mind. The aggressive tread pattern on this model maximizes its handling with heavy siped tread blocks for increased grip on slippery and wet road surfaces. Staggered lateral grooves on the shoulders and center section help in removing slush and water from under the tread area, which is a plus for this tire.
The strengthened stiffness to the tread pattern maximizes its cornering stability. Similar to an ultra-high performance tire its cornering grip and handling abilities are quite impressive for an all-season tire. The tire’s shoulders also have narrow circumferential grooves which help to deliver added grip and reduce the rolling resistance.
With its increased durability and longer treadwear the Rotiiva HT is well-suited for use on asphalt and gravel roads. Other drivers have agreed in reviews on this tire that it is one of the more durable models for use on rural gravel roads. The tread holds up much better than many competitor tires.
A quieter ride on this tire is attributed to the “Silent Groove Design”. Similar to the surface of a golf ball, the indentation on the walls of the ribs of the tire eliminate much of the unwanted road noise. In addition, Nokian says that the silica and rubber compound that is used between the sidewall and the tread further assists in eliminating excessive noise and vibration which adds to the comfort of the ride as well.
The Nokian Rotiiva HT comes in an extensive range of 16 to 20 inch sizes in both LT and non-LT models. A tread warranty of up to 70K miles is also included.

Overall Thoughts
Nokian is well-known for making good quality tires, with their winter tires being among the best on the market. This new for 2015 Rotiva HT continues down that same path. You can expect to find excellent dry/wet/winter traction on this tire. Handling is crisp and the steering is responsive. We’ve heard this from other drivers as well.
While this tire delivers solid performance on the road, it also features very good traction in light off-road terrain and especially on gravel or dirt roads.
The only real complaint we’ve heard in regards to this model is that it tends to get noisier as it wears down. This is common for most all-season tires.
Overall, we rate the Rotiiva HT in the upper half of the truck/SUV all-season class. It offers better than average value, safety, durability and performance.

I’ve have these tires on 2 different Expeditions and they are great in all conditions. They perform just as good or better than the Michelin LTX ms2 tires I had before.
Had mine for about 25% of threadwear and on cold days with rain I slide everywhere. I have them in a suburban. Great in the summer but as soon as cold hits they harden and traction is gone. Also starting to get loud. I have the z line a/s on my wife’s car. 25 k and doing ok. Only use them for summer.
Definitely switching back to my Michelin defender for my suburban.
I installed them on my suburban. They work good on dry conditions. First sleet of the year in Chicago and no traction at all. Going back to Michelin defender.
Also, I have them down to 80% and there’s a humming noise now. Too bad, I liked them on my wife’s car. I have the z line on hers and they’re great. I guess they need to do more research on the upper sizes.
I have 4000 miles on my tires, they is a hum noise .
The main problem is bouncing at 42-46 mph, I’ve had in once to clean the wheels thoroughlyand rebalance. Seemed to help for 30 miles, now it’s back to the bouncing again.
I had Michelins before these tires and had no problem at all.
My tire size is LT235 85R 16
we’ve only got 25,000 miles on our tires and the highway noise is getting really bad plus the snow traction is non-existent.
