Nitto Mud Grappler Tire Review & Rating

The Mud Grappler from Nitto Tires is the company’s newest high performance off-road tire especially designed for driving through mud, dirt, sand, gravel, snow, climbing rocks and going through any other type of extreme terrain.

Engineered for drivers of light trucks and SUV’s, the Mud Grappler features a computerized tread pattern that include a unique “raptor-claw” tread design along the tire’s sidewall. Massive 15mm side-lugs enhance sidewall puncture resistance, while also providing added rock crawling and mud traction.

Nitto Mud Grappler Tire Review

Anti-slip grooves increase lateral traction, and the tread’s high void ratio keeps the tire clean from mud and dirt. Nitto has added sipes around the tread for enhanced performance in light or deep snow and slush. Instead of sliding around you’ll find the tire provides the grip to get you where you want to go.

The Mud Grappler is built to provide the strongest tread design possible. Inside the tire you will find wide steel belts with two spirally wound nylon cap plies for added strength and increased stability at higher speeds. A three-ply polyester high turn-up body enhances durability and steering response. The single strand bead construction and high bead filler provide better tire uniformity and stability. Nitto offers two different sidewall designs that you can choose from. The tire is available in sizes ranging from 15-18 inches.

Pros

  • Amazing performance in mud, snow, sand, on rocks and rugged terrains
  • Huge 15mm side lugs resist punctures while providing added traction
  • Excellent at self-cleaning mud and dirt
  • Long lasting tread

Cons

  • Tires are not cheap

Overall Thoughts

The Mud Grappler delivers when it comes to its abilities to go through mud, climb rocks, drive through sand, gravel, dirt, snow and anything else you feel like going through for that matter. This is one of the those special types of tires that are not often found.

There’s really no need to go through all that it does well, because it virtually includes everything. If you don’t want to take our word for it you can read the many reviews from other drivers of this tire that say the same things. That said, this tire comes in at a premium price… but if you want the best, and want a tire that is built to perform and last for a long time, then you already know it won’t be cheap. Overall, one of the better tires in this class.

  1. This tire is terrible.Ibonly got 13,500 miles out of mine. Talked to the dealer and Nitto. They would not honor any warranty and when a wrote a review Nitto tires removed my review. Really?? They only want good reviews on the site. They also removed me so I couldn’t write reviews. I will never do business with this company again. Believe me if they would have worked with me I would have given them another shot but the length they go to keep bad reviews out of site is troubling.

  2. Nitto tires wear out fast. I only got a little over 13000 mile on mine. I have a newer Ram 2500. Warranty? What warranty. They would not work we me at all. Save your money.
