Nitto Tire Introduces New NT90W Studless Winter Tire For Crossovers
March 2013 – Nitto Tire USA has announced the upcoming release of its new NT90W studless winter tire designed for today’s crossover vehicles. While the aim of this newest winter tire is at the crossover market, it will also include fitments for SUV’s and standard passenger vehicles.
Available in 15 different sizes ranging from 17-20 inches, the NT90W will sport either an H or T speed rating.
A dual tread design and compound highlights the list of features on this new tire. A unique winter tread compound encompasses the outer portion of the tread, while a silica enhanced inner compound is designed to increase winter traction.
There is also 3-D interlocking siping around the tire, as well as multi-grip sipes. Numerous circumferential grooves are designed to provide added traction on wet, slush, snow and rain covered roadways.
The tread compound is further made to be more environmentally friendly with ingredients such as bamboo charcoal and crushed walnut shells among others in the tire’s makeup. The crushed walnut shells work like studs in that they actually provide small scratches on icy surfaces which increase traction.
Nitto expects to have the new NT90W available sometime in April.
