Michelin Symmetry Tire Review & Rating
The Symmetry from Michelin offers drivers of all types of coupes, sedans, minivansand many other vehicles all-season traction and handling to go with an extremely quiet and comfortableride.
The symmetrical tread design sports a unique tread compound and Michelintechnology that gives this model enhanced comfort on the road. Stress Equilibrium Casing technology increases thecontact patch and helps to lower the rolling resistance, which not only extends the overall tread life, but alsohelps out the environment by reducing CO2 emissions.
Road noise is virtually non-existent through the use of Variable Pitch Treadoptimization and Michelin’s Compliance Cushion, which work together to deliver a much smoother and quieter tire onthe highway or around town.
Wet traction and handling are enhanced with a wide serrated center groove andinterlocking “S” sipes. The sipes automatically lock together when necessary to give the tire better steeringcontrol and reduce the risk of hydroplaning. It also promotes more even tread wear.
Inside the tire you will find two steel belts that provide added strength anddurability to the Symmetry. These twin belts supplement a polyester cord body that provides a comfortable ridethroughout the life of the tire.
Michelin gives the option of a black or white sidewall depending upon the sizethat you choose for your vehicle.
Pros
- Dependable all-season traction and handling
- Very comfortable and quiet riding tire
- Excellent tread life
Cons
- Heavy snow traction may be an issue to some
Overall Thoughts
Michelin has built another excellent all-season tire in the Symmetry. Overall,all-season handling is what you would expect, and this model is one of the more quiet tires in its class. Heavysnow traction may not be as good as we like, but then again, this is not a snow tire.
