Michelin Energy Saver LTX Tire Review & Rating

Designed for all-season traction, comfort and fuel efficiency, the Michelin Energy Saver LTX is the company’s eco-friendly highway truck and van tire. Used mainly as original equipment on vehicles like the Ford F-series and others, the Energy Saver LTX incorporates the latest in tire technology to enhance overall performance.

A unique all-season rubber tread compound and Michelin’s EnergySaver construction are created to reduce unwanted heat buildup, while lowering CO2 emissions and increasing fuel efficiency. It’s a combination that works well for this model.

Michelin Energy Saver LTX Tire Review

The tire’s larger outer and inner shoulder blocks and MaxTouch Construction deliver added dry traction and cornering stability throughout the speed range. This new technology is designed to maximize the tread footprint and evenly distribute the forces of braking, acceleration and cornering, resulting in more even treadwear and increased treadlife.

Large circumferential grooves and hundreds of sipes around the tread provide dependable grip on wet pavement, as well as reduce the risk of hydroplaning. This is another area often mentioned as a plus in driver reviews. The biting edges of the sipes are also built to handle traction on snow, slush and other winter conditions, however, this is an all-season tire and not a winter tire.

The Energy Saver LTX is currently available in an 18-inch size with a T-speed rating. Michelin includes a 55K mile tread warranty on this model.

Pros

  • Energy efficient design
  • Excellent dry and wet traction
  • Smooth and comfortable ride quality
  • Very low outside noise
  • Longer lasting treadlife

Cons

  • Traction on ice and hardpack
  • Need to have more sizes

Overall Thoughts

Although used as OE on various Ford trucks and other vehicles, the Energy Saver LTX is also used as a replacement for 265/60R18 fitments. Traction is what you would expect from a Michelin tire, and cornering stability is very good.

The ride is comfortable and road noise is next to nothing. It’s comparable to the best-selling Premier LTX. Treadlife has shown to be longer lasting than you might expect, which is backed for 55K miles. We can’t speak to how well it increases fuel efficiency, but we’ve heard other drivers mention it has improved economy.

Overall, the Energy Saver LTX provides confident traction in all-season conditions (with the exception of ice and hardpack) and delivers a quiet, comfortable ride.
