Landsail LS988 Tire Review & Rating
The LS988 from Landsail is an ultra-high performance summer tire intended for drivers of passenger vehicles, as well as sporty light trucks and SUVs. Landsail has engineered this model to try and compete with the better known name brand tires in the areas of acceleration, braking and cornering stability. Additionally, engineers have attempted to optimize the tread to prevent uneven wear and extend overall tread life.
A high-performance tread compound combines with a symmetric tread pattern and continuous center rib to enhance cornering grip and deliver increased steering response. Wide tread blocks along both the inner and outer shoulders of the tire further add to better grip in the corners.
Four wide circumferential grooves and lateral v-grooves aid in channeling away water on wet road surfaces and bringing down the risks of hydroplaning. Unique S-shaped sipes provide additional traction for all driving conditions.
The V-shaped tread pattern also helps in enhancing performance at high speeds. Landsail has developed this model to provide drivers with the confidence they need when accelerating and braking on dry pavement.
Reducing tread wear hasn’t been forgotten by Landsail either. The shoulder bars have been specifically designed to reduce the likelihood of irregular wear. Landsail has a number of 16-20 inch sizes available with speed ratings of W and Y. A limited tread warranty is also provided.

Overall Thoughts
While the Landsail LS988 isn’t among the worst low-cost offerings among similar tires in this class, it definitely isn’t among the best. Landsail was able to engineer a tire which provides good traction on dry streets and highways. Handling and cornering performance is ok as well. One of the bigger surprises you might find with this tire is the lower road noise.
Unfortunately, the drawbacks with the LS988 are glaring. Traction on wet pavement could use a big increase. Get into the accelerator a bit too heavy and the rear is likely going to slide around on you pretty quick. We won’t go as far as to say it’s downright dangerous to drive on when the rain falls, but multiple user reviews have expressed near-zero driver confidence on wet roads.
While the tire does offer a fairly attractive price point for drivers on a real tight budget, in this case you are going to get what you pay for. Overall, we give this model a rank in the lower portion of the UHP summer tire class. Other lower costing tires like the Falken FK453, GT Radial Champiro UHP1 or the Nankang Ultra Sport NS-II would make much better choices and still save you a considerable amount of money.

Warranty
Landsail provides a limited tread warranty on the LS988. Tire uniformity is warranted for the first 1/32 inch of wear. Materials and workmanship are guaranteed for 5-years and are prorated down to the final 2/32 inch of tread depth.
