Landsail LS288 Tire Review & Rating

The LS288 tire from Landsail is built to deliver touring all-season performance for drivers of coupes, sedans, minivans and crossovers. It has been engineered to provide a smooth, quiet ride to go with more sure-footed grip on both dry and wet roads.

An all-season tread compound and symmetric tread pattern with a solid center rib help provide enhanced stability and cornering response. Landsail incorporates what they term a wet grip groove design that sports four wide circumferential grooves to direct water into a series of lateral grooves. This helps channel away water from the contact patch of the tire and reduce the chances of hydroplaning.

Landsail LS288 Tire Review

An optimized tread pitch alignment and silent lateral grooves have been created to deliver a quiet ride. These features work pretty well and do help lower the road noise when driving at highway speeds.

Three circumferential ribs allow the tire to provide near-perfect steering stability on the highway. Additionally, the tread pattern has been built to effectively disperse heat. Landsail offers a range of 13-16 inch sizes in the LS288, and speed ratings are T, H, V and W. There’s also a limited tread warranty included.

Pros

  • Very good dry traction and braking
  • High degree of ride comfort
  • Quiet ride
  • Good tread life

Cons

  • Wet traction and braking could be better
  • Winter performance

Overall Thoughts

The Landsail LS288 is well designed for a budget touring all-season tire. This model handles quite well on dry pavement, and braking is confident. It’s been engineered to dissipate heat as much as possible for a longer lasting treadlife, which we’ve heard mentioned by other drivers as a plus on this model.

Unfortunately, like many all-season tires, the LS288 suffers when it comes to winter weather conditions. It simply lacks the traction and handling of many top performing tires, as well as any dedicated winter tire. Traction on wet roads could be better, but we wouldn’t go as far to say wet grip is awful. However, if rain frequently hits the roads you’re driving, you may want to consider an alternative tire.

Overall, this tire’s performance ranks it in the middle to lower half of the touring all-season class. That said, it carries a lower price that makes it an attractive option for budget-minded drivers who are looking for a basic all-season tire.

  1. Dear Sentury Tire USA:
What is the status of your LandSail LS288? Are you discontinuing it as I don’t see if in your list of other LandSail models like the LS388, LS588, & LS988?
Please advise. I am under the impression that your Sentury touring tire which is an exclusive tire at Discount Tire might be essentially the same tire at least in tread design? Please advise. Thanks…

  2. I have a question about the LandSail LS-288? Is the LS-288 a discontinued tire, and now the Sentury touring tire essentially has replaced it? Please advise me. Thanks.

  3. I blew a tire this am and would like to replace it with the same tire. I cannot find anyone who sells it. can you tell me what the cost is? And where I can purchase it in or around Perry, Ga. 31069
