J.D. Power Releases Original Equipment Tire Customer Satisfaction Results

April 2015 – J.D. Power and Associates recently released the results of their annual study of original equipment tire owner satisfaction, and it comes as no surprise that Michelin came out on top overall.

JD Power Award

The study was conducted by asking 29,000 original owners of various 2013 or 2014 model year vehicles to provide their experiences with their tires after driving on them for the first two years.

Owners were asked to rated their experiences with tire wear, tire ride, tire appearance and tire traction/handling. Categories for vehicle segments include luxury, passenger car, performance sport and truck/utility.

J.D. Power uses a 1,000 point scale in computing scores, and Michelin came in the highest in luxury and passenger car segments. Pirelli narrowly topped Michelin in the performance sport segment by a single point. Here’s a look at the ratings by each segment:

No results were provided in the truck/utility segment. The reason; J.D. Power stated that there must be at least four suppliers with sufficient samples within an award segment for a segment award to be presented. Due to insufficient market representation among rankable suppliers in the segment, no award could be given.

That said, of all the brands evaluated, J.D. Power ranked Michelin, Bridgestoneand Goodyear as the top three without assigning individual scores.
