Hankook Kinergy PT H737 Tire Review & Rating

Released in late 2017, the new Hankook Kinergy PT H737 offers touring all-season performance for all types of coupes, sedans, minivans and crossovers.

The PT H737 is set to replace the current H727 tire in the company’s lineup. (The H727 has been a popular model and carries a 100K mile warranty.) Hankook is producing this new tire exclusively at its Clarksville, TN manufacturing facility, which is a first for the company.

Hankook uses its unique all-season tread compound that is formulated to increase traction and handling year-round, while also lowering the rolling resistance of the tire for better fuel efficiency. The tread design features stiffer tread blocks and sidewalls that are optimized for enhanced handling and longer-term durability.

Four wide circumferential grooves and numerous lateral slots combine to evacuate water from the tread, as well as reduce the risks of hydroplaning, for added performance on wet pavement.

Other areas of focus on the Kinergy PT H737 include the use of a stronger jointless bead wire that helps stiffen the sidewall for increased handling and response. The jointless full cover belt and strengthened bead filler add to improved durability and tire strength.

According to Hankook, its 860 A A UTQG rating gives the H737 the highest rating of any tire sold today. Available sizes range from 14-18 inches, and all sizes sport a T or H-speed rating. Hankook provides a 90K mile tread warranty on this model.

Pros

  • Very good dry and wet traction
  • Steering response and cornering stability
  • Comfortable ride
  • 90K mile tread warranty

Cons

  • Too early to tell if the tread lasts for 90K miles

Overall Thoughts

The older H727 has been one of Hankook’s best-selling tires for several years now. Replacing it was not going to be easy for their engineers, but this new H737 has managed has lived up to the challenge in all the key areas.

Traction and handling on dry or wet pavement is what you would expect from a good basic touring all-season tire. The stiffer sidewalls help give it a more sporty feel when cornering, but not at the expense of ride comfort. That said, you can expect to feel a little rougher ride in potholes and other road imperfections.

Although it’s too early to know if the Kinergy H737 will live up to its claims of a longer lasting treadlife to go with its 90K mile warranty, it is showing positive signs at this stage.

Overall, this is a good option for drivers looking for a solid performing all-season tire. It’s also priced lower than many comparable tires for those on a tighter budget.

  1. Just bought these tires to replace Cooper CS5 Grand Tourings that I purchased 2 weeks ago. The Coopers had a rougher ride and never seemed to have a solid grip on the road. They also were noisy. The Kinergy 737 is a vastly superior tire in all respects. Very smooth, quiet, and feels like they are glued to the road even in 20 degree temps. HIGHLY recommended!

  2. Awesome looking tread, these tires sure look better than most all-season tires out there on the market. for less than $140 a tires, these Hankook’s should do well for our Buick encore
