Hankook I*Cept Evo W310 Tire Review & Rating

The Winter I*Cept Evo W310 from Hankook Tires features a sporty design that is engineered for drivers of sport coupes, sedans, crossovers and smaller SUV’s who are looking for solid performance in a variety of tough winter weather road conditions.

The High-Technology Tread compound and asymmetric tread pattern are made for traction and handling in a wide range of temperatures and road surfaces. The outer longitudinal rib block enhances dry surface cornering and reduces braking distances.

Unique Polar Bear Claw grooves around the tread feature a deeper tread depth to increase water, slush and snow evacuation from under the tire’s contact patch. 3-D sipes provide added block stiffness and increase handling, giving you more confidence while driving in rough winter conditions and helping to prevent you from sliding all over the road.

Inside the tire you will find twin steel belts with spirally wound nylon for added reinforcement. This combination increases strength and stability, as well as improving treadwear. Hankook includes a 40,000 mile tread guarantee on the W310.

Overall Thoughts

This is a snow tire that excels in several areas, yet it is also far from perfect. The traction and grip on snow, rain and slush is excellent. Deep snow traction could be a little better, as could be cornering power at higher temps, but it is still more than adequate. The bigger issue is with traction/braking on hard pack and ice. The tire suffers a bit here and you’ll need to use some extra caution.

One area that surprised us was with the ride comfort. This tire rides smooth and without the noise you often hear with winter tires. You really can’t tell you’re riding on them at times. Hankook includes a 40K mile warranty, which is not often found with any brand.

Overall, despite a couple of drawbacks, this is an adequate winter tire that will get you through mild to moderate conditions.
