The GT Radial Champiro IcePro is a premium grade, studdable winter tire intended for drivers who are looking for a budget-friendly option to safely travel through difficult winter weather conditions. Built for coupes, sedans and minivans, the IcePro is engineered to deliver reliable traction in snow, ice, slush and cold rain.

A tread compound rich in silica and directional tread pattern are designed to not only increase traction on snow and ice, but to also help in keeping the tire more pliable during colder temperatures.

For times when winter is at its toughest, the IcePro featues a unique stud distribution pattern that has been optimized to provide added traction in snow and ice, while attempting to reduce the noise inside your vehicle.

Wet traction is enhanced through the tire’s twin circumferential grooves and wide lateral grooves which aid in evacuating water and reducing the chances of hydroplaning.

This model is available in sizes ranging from 13-18 inches and comes in a T-speed rating. GT Radial also provides a limited tread warranty.

Overall Thoughts

Not to be confused with the Champiro IcePro 2, which has a slightly different set of design features and is intended for light trucks, the IcePro is a value-priced offering from GT Radial which delivers on most but not all of its promises. Having said this, it is quite good for a budget tire.

As is the case with most winter tires, you shouldn’t expect a perfectly smooth ride or low road noise-in fact, this tire is likely a bit louder than other tires in its class. While its grip in snow is excellent, traction over ice could be better. The fact that the tire is studdable is a big plus in this department and can considerably improve the tire’s ability to bite into an icy road.

This tire handles well in the snow and has a longer-than-average tread life. When winter conditions turn more severe, studding the tire can further enhance traction. All in all, if you’re looking for a low-cost reliable winter tire from a reputable tire maker that will get you safely through most all winter conditions, the IcePro is a perfectly reasonable choice.

Warranty

GT Radial provides a limited tread warranty on the Champiro Ice Pro. Tire uniformity is guaranteed for the first 2/32 inch of wear. Materials and workmanship are warranted for 5-years and include free replacement during the first 2/32 inch of wear. A prorated amount is given for the remaining time period or until the tire reaches the final 2/32 inch of tread depth.
