GT Radial Champiro 528 Tire Review & Rating
The Champiro 528 is GT Radial’s ultra-high performance tire for drivers of today’s hottest SUV’s. Engineered to deliver outstanding handling and cornering performance, the 528 sports an attractive and aggressive tread design.
A Nanotek silica tread compound contains non-aromatic oils to not only provide increased traction and grip on dry or wet pavement, but it creates a “green” tread manufacturing process that makes it more environmentally friendly.
The tread design on this tire features rounded shoulder grooves and progressive tread elements that combine to enhance cornering performance. The tire’s circumferential grooves and high angled grooves expel water from under the tire and add traction and handling on wet road surfaces. The variable pitch tread sequence reduces road noise and creates a more comfortable ride.
Inside the tire you will find two steel belts with a polyester cord body for added strength and durability, as well as increased riding comfort and better overall treadwear. Sizes are available from 18-22 inches, and this model carries a V-speed rating.

Overall Thoughts
The 528 is another solid performing tire in the GT Radial lineup. We like the look of the tread design, but even better, we like the traction and cornering performance it provides. Braking and acceleration on this tire are good. Expect to find responsive steering throughout the speed range.
Wet pavement handling is adequate but not spectacular. The high angled grooves do a decent job of getting rid of the water and keeping you from losing traction. Naturally, you won’t be seeing this tire providing any winter traction abilities, so keep that in mind if you live in an area that sees much snow.
Overall this is a very nice street/sport SUV tire that is priced below models you would find from other name brand tire makers.

Warranty
The Champiro 528 comes with a limited tread warranty. Tire uniformity is guaranteed for the first 2/32 inch of wear. Materials and workmanship are warranted for 5-years and include free replacement during the first 2/32 inch of wear. A prorated amount is given for the remaining time period or until the tire reaches the final 2/32 inch of tread depth.
