Goodyear Eagle F1 All Season Tire Review & Rating

The Eagle F1 All Season from Goodyear features the latest in carbon fiber technology to go with a Dupont Kevlar tread area to create a year-round high performance tire for serious driving enthusiasts. Built for drivers of sport coupes and sedans, the F1 All Season is engineered to provide quicker steering response and increased handling capabilities.

An all-season tread compound, with added PermaBlack that keeps the tire looking new as it ages, combines with larger outside shoulder blocks for increased dry traction. Carbon fiber sidewall inserts deliver enhanced grip in the corners and more responsive steering , something this tire does a good job at.

Goodyear Eagle F1 All Season Tire Review

Goodyear’s added All-Season Zone sports wider tread grooves and unique Aqua chutes that are designed to channel away water from under the tire’s footprint, while also reducing the risk of hydroplaning. More on this in our overall thoughts. TredLock technology further increases wet and winter weather traction and handling by locking together the tread’s biting edges during braking and acceleration. This is also made to give the tire added cornering performance as well.

Inside the tire you will find two steel belts that utilize DuPont Kevlar reinforcement that add more strength and durability at higher speeds. A 2-ply polyester cord body is built to give the tire more ride comfort and handling. This model is available in 17-18 inch sizes, and you’ll find a limited tread warranty to go with it.

Pros

  • Dry traction is excellent
  • Tire corners well and provides crisp steering response
  • Very good braking and acceleration

Cons

  • Tires become noisy as they age
  • Treadwear could be better

Overall Thoughts

We were expecting a bit more from these F1 All Seasons than what we found. The good: dry traction and cornering grip are both very good. As the tire heats up, the grip becomes better in the corners. Steering response is good, as is braking and acceleration.

The not so good: this tire gets very noisy as it ages. Numerous driver reviews have said the same thing. Even for an ultra-high performing tire like this, it is still too noisy. Beyond that, handling on wet or snow covered surfaces requires a bit more attention to speed. Finally, treadwear may be an issue to some.

Overall, we rank this Goodyear model in the lower half of its class. We would suggest going with the Eagle F1 Asymmetric All Season as a much better choice in a Goodyear tire. Other tires such as the BFGoodrich Comp-2 A/S, Continental ExtremeContact DWS06 and many others would also be better in our opinion.
