Goodyear Endurance Tire Review & Rating

The new Goodyear Endurance radial special trailer, which launched in 2017, is a welcome addition to Goodyear’s lineup. Built exclusively here in the U.S., the Endurance is quickly proving to be a worthy addition. In fact, Jayco announced that they will be using the tire on all of their vehicles moving forward.

Created for use on all types of travel trailers, pop-up campers, boat trailers, toy haulers and fifth wheels, the Endurance is available in Load Range D and E sizes. Unlike the older Marathon trailer tire, the Endurance is built to handle much heavier loads and provide much improved durability and treadlife.

Goodyear Endurance Tire Review

A symmetric tread pattern, rounded profile and optimized tread depth add to stability at highway speeds while helping to keep the tire cooler under heavy loads. This is a noticeable improvement over the Marathon.

Goodyear Endurance tires sport dual steel belts with nylon reinforcement and a polyester cord body that gives this tire added strength and better overall load carrying capacity. They’ve also included a scuff guard to protect the sidewalls, which is a nice addition to be sure.

You’ll find the Endurance available in a number of 14-16 inch sizes with N-speed ratings, which is a step above the standard L or J rating found on most other trailer tires. Goodyear has also included a new ST 255/85R16 size. All sizes come with a limited tread warranty.

Overall Thoughts

Goodyear has come out with an excellent trailer tire in the new Endurance. It stands heads and shoulders above the Marathon in every way. Naturally, since this is a new model it will be some time before hearing of any treadlife issues, but if early results are indicative of what you can expect long term, the outlook is very good.

  1. I have had 3 sidewall flats it locks like the tire starts its pealing at the rim then moves up and away to the tread. It doesn’t go flat all at once
3 out of 4 tires in my travel.trailer have gone flat like this. Im wondering if there’s is a issue with the tires in have to say that im seriously disappointed with these tires ..

  2. There are many things I love about this Trailer King ST Radial Trailer Tire: First, the enhanced shoulder design is something my particular trailer would benefit from through its ability to boost tread life and even wear, the center groove with help my trailer deal with all the wear and tear it’s going to experience on all those highways. Additionally, the nylon overlay adds to this feeling of this tire being able to handle the workload I require.

  3. I was told when I purchased a (new) 2018 Rockwood Mini Lite 2904s, in 2017… To plan on Tire Replacement in 3 years. Not because the Tires were manufactured in China, but from sitting in the off-season, over the Southern New England Winters & Summers. On a return trip from a Weekend Camping in Maine, We experienced a Tire Blow Out. We never heard it, and probably drove from NH, into Mass before a passing motorist flagged us down. We have a double axle TT.
As it turned out, the tire was shredded, but the odd thing was…. No Valve Stem? Not to dwell on it. I bought (4) GY Endurance 215/75-R14s to replace the ST-205/75-14R, Original China MFG. I haven’t traveled, on these new ones, yet. But I hope Im good for another 3 years at least. Inflation Inflation inflation, take good care of your tires, they’ll take care of you in the long run.

    1. Go with the Goodyear Endurance – The minor price difference is well worth the higher quality and it keeps americans working.

  4. I’m looking to replace the Carlisles that have run trouble-free for six years on our Escape 21′ dual-axle travel trailer. I’m guessing they have 9000 to 10,000 miles on them. The tread depth is still acceptable, but I’m replacing them because they were manufactured back in October 2013. I also just discovered that they are 4-ply tires (2 steel +2 poly)
Our unit weighs 4300 pounds, ready to camp. The tire size is ST225/75R15.
New Carlisles come in 6-ply and 8-ply versions for only $8 difference in cost per tire.
Is anyone using tires on a similar trailer that have performed well and that you would recommend that brand based on your own experience?
    Thanks for any suggestions.

  5. Our family does a lot of camping to mostly local state parks but on occasion take longer trips in our 2019 Cougar (7k). Trailer was sold with trailer king brand E rated tires, and within 14 months had a blowout at low speeds. After inspecting the other tires closer it was noted that another tire was also showing irregular wear so put on spare and later checked alignment. No issues with alignment so today installed 4 GY endurance ply10. The difference in quality between the 2 tires is night and day. Driving home in icy slush did great but still need to test on the open road. Driving 2500 miles within the week and will repost my experiences.

  6. I purchased a Dutchman Aerolite 25′ TT a couple of years ago which came with the Constancy ST205/75R14 tires, which I have recently learned are made in China. Not a big fan of buying anything made in China, but now days it’s hard to avoid. I’ve been running the tires at near max inflation during our short camping trips. I have yet to have any problems with the tires but when I’m on the road I don’t have peace of mind knowing I have “China bombs” on my trailer. I do plan on replacing them very soon with the Goodyear Endurance brand made in the USA!.
I’m fairly new to the RV scene and live in Arizona. Does anyone have info on how close to max inflation you should go to safely operate on the Freeways. Thanks in advance.

  7. I have a 2018 Coleman 2605 RL travel trailer. It came standard with ST205/75R14 Load Range C LY188 Constancy Tires. Made in China!! Long story short!! With a little less than 4000 miles on these tires, I had a blow out on I-10!!! In the middle of no where!! I changed it. With the spare on the ground and having to purchase a made in China spare. I was very uncomfortable about the other tires on the ground. The nearest tire shop that I could purchase Goodyear Endurance Tires was 150 miles away, in Odessa, TX. Made it there in one piece and had 4 Goodyear Endurance ST Tires mounted. The Guys at Discount Tire off of Grandview Ave, did a Fantastic Job!!! I got back on the road and drove another 455 miles. With no tire Worries, it felt Good !!!! Will update later.

  8. I’ve learn a few good stuff here. Certainly worth
bookmarking for revisiting. I wonder how so much attempt you set to make
this kind of magnificent informative site.

  9. I purchased a used 5th wheel in Mar of 2018. Left on a cross country trip, 3000 miles, with what appeared to be good Marathons. Had a blowout at less than 800 miles. Did my research and replaced them all with Endurance tires, Seamed fine. Now in Mar of 2019 with abour 8000 miles on the Endurance tires, less than a year old, I had a blow out. One of the other tires had a bulge in the sidewall. I relaced both of the tires with new Enduance tires. The bad tires were sent to Goodyear. I am still in negotiations with Goodyear for an adjustment. They want to give me 30 cents on the dollar. I am not sure how I feel about that, not too good. The warrany big print giveth and small print takes away.
My 5th wheel is heavy, about 15k. I have a tire monitor system that has saved me twice. Would not leave home without one!!!

    1. Is the load ranges D and E available on the endurance tires enough for a big 5th wheel?? My bighorn has 7,5 K lbs axles, so each timre should support 3750 lbs – more like Load range G.

  10. I wanted to see what people had to say regarding the Goodyear Endurance tires. Looks to me like these tires are exhibiting the same issues of most all ST tires, bulging and tread separation. Over the last 4 years I have taken an interest in ST tires. Based on my own experience and reading countless reviews by others, I can say that I have yet to see an ST tire brand that excels above all others. I have even gone so far as to write to the NTSB to try and get them to take a more stringent interest in ST tires. I travel with a TMS system and religiously check tire inflation before venturing out.

  11. The Endurance can’t be as bad as the Marathon. It is a disaster looking to happen. I know I went thru many of them and had a hell of a time getting GY to warranty them. They did after a lot of hassle.

    1. Hi Bill
Its unfortunate that you’ve had such a woeful experience using Goodyear Tires in the past. Please tell us what you drive, and we can help suggest alternative tires you can use.

  12. I had a sidewall failure with less than 200 miles on my new trailer using 205/75-15s. The other Endurance tires are holding up well after 2,000 plus miles so I’m guessing I just got a bad one. That said, I just saw that another RVer posted on a forum a serious failure after only 15 miles. Looks like it is hit or miss with the Endurance tires so keep an eye on them for the first 500 miles or so.

  13. Purchased a used Milan 27RLSK that had the original 2012 tires. Took one trip and noticed the sidewalls always seemed to be bulging out. Before going on a trip to LA over the I5 “Grapevine” I decided to upgrade tires. Chose the new Endurance 225/75 R15 “E” rated tires. Terrible highway conditions on the south side of the Grapevine, but were no problem for the new tires. Trailer was much more stable and handled the highway speeds with ease. Highly recommend.

  14. I recently replaced my 20 month old 205/75/15, load range C Rainiers with 1500 miles on my 2016 Wildwood 27RKSS with new Endurance load range D. Had no issues with the Rainiers other than being made in China and they always looked like they were underinflated.
The Goodyears have no sidewall “bulge”. I can’t comment yet on their ride yet. I wanted to tow my trailer with more confidence knowing I won’t be on the side of the highway with a blowout.

  15. Just purchases 4 New Goodyear Endurance 235/80 R16 in Bossier City, LA at Moores Tire. Had thought I would put the Marathon tires on, but they told me these were better tire, N Rated and that the Marathon was being phased out. They could have sold me the older tires, but didn’t. Highly recommend this shop.

    1. Just replaced the Goodyear Endurance after less than a year..had a large chunk of tread missing on one tire, had about 10-12k miles on the tires, but disappointed they didn’t wear better. All tires were worn out. Replaced with Samson truck tires!

  16. bought 4 gy endurance 15 inch tires for new rv. previous 2016 rv had Lions Head tires. rv had blowout and totaled rv. The floor of rv was compromised. Huge hole in floor. SO, decided after buying new rv to install new tires . This summer will see how well they do.

    1. Get your axle alignment checked and adjusted first. Every trailer out there has an alignment problem being out of spec. It will eat tires. It is cheaper than replacing tires to often and a ROAD FAILURE.

  17. Delighted to see an American made trailer tire again made by a recognized manufacturer. My experience to date has been terrible. Since acquiring a new 2010 29′ Denali 5th wheel camper I have gone through 15 Chinese made tires in less than 20K total miles on the trailer. 12 failed with separations along the tread which I caught by routine inspections. 3 failed by blow outs which damaged my trailer fender wells. I was careful to always observe speed and load limits specified for my trailer. I was at the point of reworking my axles to move to a 16 inch tire system to avoid the China trap that I was in. Just in time however, Good Year announced this tire.
I just installed 4 GoodYear Endurance ST224-75R load rage E tires in preparation for a 4.000 mile trip across the NW United States. I am hopeful this development will provide the tire performance that is expected by today’s tire technology.

    1. John Aaron – it is now June 22. You posted your comments on June 4. I am in need to buy new trailer tires now as I had a Chinese made tire blow out on my horse trailer this morning. Curious to know how these tires performed for you on your trip through the NW? Thanks

    2. Learned the hard way that on the heavier fifth wheels the standard E range tires will never be good enough to prevent tread separation and blow outs. The side walls are just to soft, allow the trailer to sway, adding additional heat to the tire. I moved over to a G rated tire, found significant change in how the fifth wheel pulled, limited to no sway when passing semi or side wind, lower tire temps, rolling resistance is lower. My fifth wheel weighs out at 13K, loaded, below E range spec but still had issues. Goodyear G rated have been excellent for the past 15+K miles, not one issue, and still look like they have another 15K+ miles left to go.

  18. I just put on 4 Goodyear Endurance after having 6 Chinese separations. Any blowout can do lots of damage to a travel trailer. My Airstream luckily has minimal due to two actually blowing out. I will never buy Towmaster again.

  19. Hey Joe:
Wonder how many people buying tires without installing them right away on the rims at the place of purchase? Joe, I think you are one of those guys who overstock shelves with different tires brands and now when everyone is asking for Endurance, you are afraid that you will be stuck with this Made in China POS. Was that a reason you wrote that negative review?

  20. I just purchased 4 Goodyear Endurance tires and off loading the first one from my track I feel a bump on the side. That is telling me such a thing is NFG! Anybody has a comment?

    1. I just purchased and had installed 4 Goodyear endurance at the tire store and after dropping it At storage 5 miles away I found a bulge.

        1. I need trailer tires for two trailers I own, any suggestions? Are the Endurance any better than the Marathon? I am seeing questionable comments!
