Geo-Trac TI-502 Radial XLT2 Tire Review & Rating

The TI-502 XLT2 from Geo-Trac is built to deliver dependable all-season traction and handling for drivers of all types of pickups, crossovers and SUV’s. With an E load rating on LT sizes, the XLT2 is engineered to haul heavier loads or pull larger trailers and need the extra capacity from a tougher tread.

An all-season tread compound combines with an asymmetric tread design for enhanced grip and performance on a variety of road surfaces. Larger tread blocks around the outside shoulders increase dry traction and provide predictable cornering grip.

Four circumferential grooves and added lateral grooves channel away water from under the tread and reduce the risk of hydroplaning. It also adds more traction on slush and light snow covered pavement.

Inside the tire you’ll find two steel belted construction for added strength and durability. A polyester cord body adds to ride comfort and promotes more even treadwear. Geo-Trac offers sizes ranging from 16-20 inches.

Pros

  • Dry traction is very good
  • Treadlife

Cons

  • Winter handling
  • Road noise

Overall Thoughts

As a lower priced option, the XLT2 fills a need in the SUV/truck tire market. It delivers dependable year-round traction and competent handling on a variety of road surfaces. Steering response is good and tire stability is another plus for this model.

The ride is about what you would expect from a lower costing tire. But hey, if you want an ultra-smooth ride with little to no road noise, opt for a Michelin or other big name brand. Beyond that, winter weather performance is adequate, just not great.

Overall, if a basic all-season tire that provides good around town performance and can also be used for those weekend fishing or camping trips is what you’re after, then this tire will give it to you and save you some money at the same time.
