General Tire Set To Launch New Model

April 2013 – Continenal Tire has announced that its General brand tire line is set to release an all-new AltimaxRT43 this coming August 2013. This new model will eventually replace the current Altimax RT.

The Altimax RT43 has been in the development stage for the past 3 years and is focused on drivers who arelooking for a lower cost tire that provides higher mileage over sporty driving performance. It is said to be anideal replacement for T or H-speed rated original equipment tires.

According to Joe Maher, who is the passenger and performance product manager for Continental, this new tire has a new tread construction design that the company says will increase tread wear and longevity without affecting performance. Further, this new construction process will start being used in other value based tires in the years ahead.

A total of 44 sizes that will have T and H-speed ratings is set to be released in August. 13-18 inch sizes thatwill come in 50-70 series aspect ratios will be made available. Widths from 175-235 mm are included. There willalso be a 75,000 mile tread warranty on the tire as well.

The General Altimax RT43 is poised to compete against other tire models like the Hankook Optimo H727, Cooper CS4Touring and the Advantage T/A from BFGoodrich.

There’s no doubt that there is plenty of room in the market for budget-friendly tire options from the biggerbrand name tire makers. It will be interesting to see how things go with this new model and its template for futuretire designs.
