Fuzion UHP Sport A/S Tire Review & Rating

Fuzion came up with a solution for drivers that want a little extra performance from their car’s tires. It’s the Fuzion UHP Sport A/S, and it’s built for all types of sport coupes and sedans. In addition, it’s among the lowest priced UHP all season tires on the market today.

The high-performance tread compound is molded into a directional tread pattern that is made to give this model improved dry and wet traction and handling, as well as more responsive steering. A continuous center rib adds to stability and increased handling, while linked shoulder blocks contribute to cornering grip.

Four circumferential grooves and the addition of sipes around the tread deliver better traction on wet road surfaces, but this is an area that needs to see some improvements made. There are many other UHP tires that offer much more dependable wet grip. When it comes to driving on snow and ice, we’d advise against it unless it’s nothing more than a light amount of snow.

Overall ride comfort is another area that is not a strong suit for this tire. There’s a little extra noise from the tread, although turning up the radio will eliminate it.

There are two steel belts inside the tire to go with a spirally wrapped nylon ply. This combination adds more strength and durability to the tire, as well as treadlife. Fuzion has a number of 17-18 sizes available in a W-speed rating. There’s also a built-in rim protector to prevent wheel damage.

Pros

  • Dry traction
  • Cornering grip and stability
  • Low cost

Cons

  • Noise
  • Poor winter traction
  • Treadlife

Overall Thoughts

We had higher expectations for the Fuzion UHP Sport A/S as a lower cost UHP tire than it delivers. While dry traction and cornering grip are a little better than average, the negatives are just too glaring to overlook.

This model needs a big boost in wet grip, and as many drivers have noted in reviewing this tire, winter traction and handling is among the worst performing tires in this class. In addition, road noise is an issue and treadlife is shorter than expected.

Overall, we would recommend other low-cost high-performance tires like the Falken Pro G4 A/S or Kumho Ecsta PA31 among a host of others.
