Firestone Winterforce UV Tire Review & Rating

The Firestone Winterforce UV winter tire is engineered to provide maximum winter traction and performance for drivers of light pickups, crossovers and SUV’s. Branded with the severe weather mountain/snowflake symbol, the Winterforce UV also features a studdable design in the event you need even more traction.

A winter tread compound and directional tread pattern enhance traction on dry or wet road surfaces. The tire’s sipes provide added bite for increased grip in light or deep snow, as well as on icy roadways.

The shoulder tread blocks and intermediate blocks include dense siping, and the ability to accept TSMI #12 silver-colored metallic winter studs, for the best possible traction on packed snow and ice.

It’s important to note that this new Winterforce UV uses the same tread design, compound and dimensions of older Winterforce tires. This means you can mix and match them if you need to without worries of fitment issues.

Inside the tire you will find two steel belts for added strength and durability. The polyester cord body provides increased ride comfort and a smoother ride quality. Firestone has 15-17 inch sizes available on this model, and includes a limited tread guarantee as well.

Pros

  • Outstanding wet, snow and ice traction
  • Dry traction and handling are excellent
  • Long lasting treadlife
  • Smooth and comfortable ride

Cons

  • A little road noise at highway speeds

Overall Thoughts

As a studdable winter tire for light pickups, crossovers and SUV’s, the Winterforce UV is at the top of its class. Driving on wet, snow or ice covered road surfaces is outstanding. The grip and traction it provides inspires confidence.

Dry traction and handling, along with braking and acceleration, are impressive as well. The tire provides good steering response. No, it is not a high performance cornering tire due to the softer sidewall, but it is more than adequate in its handling abilities. The ride is comfortable, and while there is some road noise at highway speeds on dry pavement, it is not excessive. Overall, we highly recommend this Firestone winter tire.
