Falken Sincera SN-828 Tire Review & Rating

The Sincera SN-828 from Falken is an economical all-season touring tire that is designed for drivers of all types of coupes, sedans and minivans. In fact, this tire is one of the lower priced tires available today.

The tread compound on the SN-828 tire is silica enhanced and designed to improve traction on wet road surfaces. It is also built to improve durability and resist abrasions to the tread. A continuous center rib increases stability on dry pavement, while the outer shoulder blocks provide increased cornering performance.

Falken Sincera SN-828 Tire Review

Falken uses a computer-optimized Five-Phase Pitch Variation in the tread of the tire in hopes of removing unwanted road noise and creating a more comfortable ride. Unfortunately, this technology doesn’t make the ride as quiet as it should be.

Inside the tread are twin steel belts that provide added strength and stability at higher speeds. They also create more even tread wear. Falken has also added special tire rotation indicators in the tread of the tire to make it easier for you to know when the tires need to be rotated. They are unique depressions in the flanks of the tread that change their shape from a circle to a square, letting you know the tires are due for rotation. Then, when the square is no longer visible, it’s time for a second tire rotation.

There is a 50K mile tread warranty included on this model, and 13-16 inch sizes are available.

Pros

  • Dry surface traction and cornering grip are ok
  • Decent ride quality
  • Very inexpensive tire

Cons

  • Treadlife is a big issue
  • Wet grip
  • Winter performance is well below average

Overall Thoughts

We feel the SN-828 is one of those all-season tires that simply needs to be retired. That may seem harsh, but this is simply a tire that ranks in the bottom tier of its class for a variety of reasons. Wet traction and performance on snow and ice need major improvements to get up to par with other modes in this category. Beyond that, treadlife is a major issue. Far too many drivers have complained about a much lower than expected lifespan to ignore.

The one good thing this tire does have going for it is a cheap price. But then when you factor in the performance for the money spent, even that doesn’t give it an overall recommendation. We would suggest taking a look at other models like the Continental TrueContact, General Altimax RT43 and the newer Falken SN250 A/S as much better options than the SN828.

  1. Where exactly did you find that the Falken Sincera SN828 model has a 50k manufacturer warranty on tread? Discount tire is telling me that these tires do not have a 50k warranty. I have had a set on my Toyota Corolla for about 3 years and I put about 37k on the tires and I have zero tread left.

  2. Hi, thank you for the article. This is the model I have right now. I’m trying to find specifications ( handling, quitness, comfort ) so that I know what to look for in the next tire. Do you have those ? They come in 3.0, 3.5, etc Thank you
